Kerry speech prediction thread: How "horrible" will it be? |
|
I heard on this morning's Today Show that Kerry is lowering expectations for his speech--beating them to the punch pretty much by saying his real remarks will be delivered at the upcoming debates. (BTW: They showed about 5 seconds of a heroic-looking Kerry riding into town with a bunch of war vets--giving him very little airtime for a great photo op.)
All week, they've increased their negativity toward the speakers and I expect it to reach a climax tonight with Kerry.
Sooo...just for fun let's beat them to the punch like Kerry has done. What can they/will they say about Kerry's speech? I think they will contrast Edwards as livelier and more charismatic--even though Edwards' speech was low-key IMO--while they say Kerry is boooooring. Yawn. Very predictable, but that's the point.
It'll be interesting to review this thread tomorrow and see how accurate we were.

2. That will happen no matter how good it is |
|
Kerry CAN give a solid, engaging speech, but his barn burning abilities are fairly nonexistent.

Maybe he will shorten the speech to squeeze them in. (They are in the 9:00PM time slot)

5. Nobody in America really knows who this man is |
|
and yet here is this man standing up there talking about himself all the time! How arrogant, how pompous....kinda French sounding too!
Also his speech will sound too scripted...except for the times he went off-script...

6. stiff, short on specifics, stilted, scripted, etc. |

Novak will give it an F-minus, and Matthews will say he'd "never want to have a beer with that guy" (what is his obsession with "who would you rather have a beer with?" anyway?? how many of us ever actually get to sit down and have a beer with the president? I don't want a drinking buddy, I want a president ... I've had plenty of drinking buddies, and the thought of any of them in the White House is terrifying)
