Damn, should of bought my house in New Mexico
I'm stationed at El Paso, TX. If I was smart I should of bought my house across the border in New Mexico so I could of had two more votes for Kerry in the battleground state of New Mexico.

Maybe Texas is in play?

1. hey TA, come on over!
Much friendlier on this side of the border. But don't worry, New Mexico is solid Dem this year, even the county club Repubs in my neighborhood are voting Kerry.

4. Do you see NM as making a permanent turn towards the Dems?
Or is it more just cuz Bush has screwed up so bad...

Are most of the Republicans in NM in Albuquerque? Cuz I'd have to say that
Santa Fe and Taos would lead solidly Democratic.

6. Albuquerque...
leans both toward the Dems and the Reps. The North always votes for the Dems. The South always votes for the Reps.

I'm hopping we can get rid of Heather Wilson, or should I say Domeneci's little puppet girl.

14. Does Wilson have a credible Democratic opponent?
I hope so...

I lived in NM for a short while a few years ago...I remember garnering a very bad impression of Heather Wilson...

16. Yes, Richard Romero
Richard Romero was in the State Legislature. He is handsome, Charismatic, Educated, Intelligent, and we dems in New Mexico just need to make sure everyone knows this. He also spent most of his life as an educator. He is very liberal, so that may keep some people from voting for him. I really am hoping he will win.

10. The key is the south.
Northern New Mexico is solid Dem and I don't see that changing during my lifetime. The south has lots of military stuff - military bases and White Sands Missle Range. The stealth bombers are stationed just over the mountains to the East. The south has always been conservative leaning, but there is a huge momentem for Kerry this year. Take my word, New Mexico is solid blue this year. The pundits call it a battleground state, but the only issue is how much Kerry will win by.

15. That's good to hear
I hope you're right. If Gore could win it in 2000, Kerry should definetaly be able to win it this year...

I think it's possible that NM could become a solid blue state eventually.

17. I think you're right.
The wild card here has always been the Green party, which is very big in the state. Nadar pulled 22,000+ votes in 2000, votes that most likely would have gone to Gore. Gore won by less than 400 votes. The Greens I've talked to have pretty much wised up and are voting Dem this year. Nadar is not on the ballot yet, but he still has time to get on it. I really don't think he'll be a factor this year.

Don't get me wrong, I respect the Green party and interact with many of them on a regular basis. In a perfect world, I would be a member of the Green party. But they realize now that all they're doing is helping Repubs and there's a whole new attitude down here.

Kerry will carry New Mexico, I guarantee it.

2. Hi, fellow El Pasoan!

:hi:

I thought about moving to NM, too. I still may, someday, but for right now I have a job on the far east side.

El Paso has always been more like New Mexico than Texas, anyway.

3. stranger things have happened
while bush is still ahead of kerry here in texas, his lead is about 4% less than it was in 2000. he defeated gore here by 21%. a june poll shows his lead over kerry to be in the 18% range, pre-edwards vp announcement (& edwards is popular here). also, i had several friends who were nader traders in 2000 who are voting for kerry this time. as of this day, nader isn't on the ballot here.

i haven't seen a poll later than early june, pre-edwards vp announcement, but based on what i'm hearing, seeing, & experiencing in my neck of the woods (south texas--laredo, san antonio, corpus, admittedly democrat country, but there are lots of republicans here too) & from what i hear from others across the state (including republican relatives who aren't happy w/bush), if things keep going the way they're going, there might be a surprise for bush on nov. 2 when texas appears in the kerry column.

while the dnc may have given up on this state, we dems in this state are not conceding texas!!!

11. I agree that the nonsense that Texas is a lock for Bush
is just that...nonsense. Texas is in-play, imho. Even Texas has a finite # of idiots and morons. This will be some kind of brawl going into November. Not one we can afford to lose. If Bush wins, I'll probably not just leave Texas, but the good ole USA.
