Is anyone else sick of hearing about "VALUES"? |
|
I don't think I'm morally corrupt or anything, but I'm getting really sick of hearing the word "VALUES".

2. No because values go beyond what Repukes say they are (sex) |
|
Every DUer shares certain values. But I agree, getting sick of both parties posturing about Repukes' idea of "values" (a hypocritical obsession with eliminating sex)

and after all, that is what we're fighting for... VALUES such as Liberty, Democracy, Rule of Law, The Common Good.

5. If you are easily annoyed by having things repeated over and over |
|
listening to a lot of political speeches in a short time might not be a good idea.

7. I'm not easily annoyed, honestly..... |
|
But EVERY single speech mentions values. EVERY speech. For the past three months. Mainstream values, liberal values, conservative values, etc. The word has become meaningless.

there you go. Get more SPECIFIC about it. Values is such a vague, general word. We know what it means, but tell me more, go deeper.
Specifics.

This is the Democratic Party, after all. We are diverse, and we agree on nothing. Leaving values vague and not addressing the divisive hot-button issues is probably a good idea.

10. Maybe that's why I'm so sick of hearing the word. |
|
My values shouldn't have to be your values; I should respect your values, not necessarilty emulate them. That must be it.

12. Funny how they couch their ethics in a term that actually |
|
means the degree acheived in material wealth or value. It should speak volumes of what is important to them, money. When I was in Catholic school we were taught in terms of sin if we did bad things or goodness and good works if we lived according to what we knew to be right. There were the spiritual and corporal works of mercy as guidelines for living a Christian life. Values were never mentioned. I just thought I would mention this.

"values" is a completely relevent word in this political campaign, and important term in the discussion of ethics and ethical issues. there is no good replacement.

14. Whatever, I'm not a language expert. But the next time you |
|
make out your will see what the word value really means. I don't think it has any relevancy to how people lead good and kind lives with empathy and charity for one another. All it means to me is a moral eliteness of holier than thou.
Every time some Repub Senator's wife gets up and spouts about family values, all she's saying to me is that she's raising her kids better with all the privileges of wealth than the working mother who is her maid.

15. I have to agree with you... "valyooz" |
|
This word, in a moral context, means absolutely NOTHING to me. If used as a verb, it tends to make sense in ANY context... to me.
