18. Giving him this spot was a sop...
...to the "moderate" wing that he has soooooooooo much pull with, lest he pull all 26 of them over to the GOP.

Best thing about his speech? The song that came after it---The Isley Brothers' "Shout!". Thankfully the speech wasn't followed by it's thematic natural, The Beatles' "I'm Only Sleeping". :)

22. How did you feel about Edwards hawkish attitude against AQ?
I have not seen a replay of it but the applause was minimal.

32. Extremely disappointed.
The Democratic team's attempts to outhawk the Republicans, based on the philosophy that we can't win unless we do so makes about as much sense as enacting the Patriot Act, in order to protect values we hold dear. By enacting the Patriot Act, we forfeit the very values what we are struggling to protect. By outhawking the Republicans we forfeit one of the things that makes Democrats more attractive to me than Republicans - putting diplomacy before military might, seeking peaceful resolutions to conflict, respecting the independence and integrity of countries around the world.

Many of the speeches I have heard, including Edwards, promote continuing to play the bully on the playground, rather than striving to resolve conflicts through means other than brute force.

I don't expect a candidate capable of beating Bush to be the dove that I have always been, but I do expect that a candidate I can vote for (rather than the candidate whose name I will mark as a vote against Bush) to emphasize that military might is a last resort, not a first option.

14. I think Lieberman sucks, but who the hell DID you vote for in 2000?
Whether it was Nader, Bush, or if you just stayed home, you're part of the problem, not the solution.

17. Hey now.
Not voting for Lieberman's an easy mistake to make.

Hell, if he got the nomination I'd be voting for Nader or moving out of the country.

20. Lieberman was the VP candidate. GORE was THE Candidate.
Most people don't care who's running for VP. Think Dan (Mr. Potatoe Head) Quayle.

Ask your doctor if Joementum is right for you. Side effects may include headache, nausea, electoral impotence and destructive GOP legislation easily passing through the Senate.

And Pelosi just said it as well.

37. It was disgusting. He got very little applause and what there was was
unenthusiastic unless he mentioned Kerry's name. Big mistake putting him on, I think. But, I understand why they did. He achieved what they wanted for the viewing audience, but he was lecturing us Democrats as if we didn't know how to behave.

networks)? He will be on all the shows and they will ask him something that requires his confirmation and he will go along with it and it won't be groundbreaking and it won't be pro-democrat.

I want to know why Joe L has so much time to suck up and betray on right wing networks?

He has made me doubt my inner steering wheel when I remember how excited I got about his selection as VP four years ago. I was thrilled that we did Catholic and were now doing Jewish and I projected Native American, Black, Buddhist, Moslem. And I loved his wife. I was one enthusiastic person and I trusted Gore. So was it me, Gore, the DNC, or was it him?
