Anyone else think Clark should have been named VP? |
|
Well, I'm going to vote for Kerry anyway.

It is bad enough that Teresa was a Republican until recently, but she is not on the ballot. We really are not short of good, dedicated men and women in the Democratic party that we need to go looking for current (McCain) or former Republicans.

Now back to the original question. Yes, but I'm Kerry/Edwards all the way. I just hope they don't waste General Clark's talents in a Kerry administration.

Well okay, I backed him as President.
Behind Kerry 100% right now, but man Wes just blew me away.
I hope he gets in in some capacity.
He is just to good to not be serving us in some way.

I like Edwards and family now...but I can't help think that we wouldn't have to fight so hard to prove to the public that Democrats CAN and WILL defend this nation I would feel we were in safer hands. I just wish he could be SoD! Maybe Kerry can get a weaver!

I refuse to second guess. Edwards is a great VP pick and helps with many voters. I love Wes and I will be angry if he doesn't get a major position in a Kerry administration.

With Kerry's one story Vietnam hero line becoming tired fast (considering that we have 3 more months)....as an anchor as to why he should be voted in as President, Clark would have provided many more stories to justify a Kerry Presidency during wartime.
But, the media decided that Kerry would choose Edwards....and so he did.
Oh well, just my spilt milk.

I was an ardent Clark supporter and still am. But I trust Kerry's political instincts and experience enough to let him make his own decision on this.
Edwards is great.

17. hard to say...but i think "yes". |
|
In reality the big task will be in foreign and defense policy, and thats where Clark could have been usefull, sort of as a en envoy-cum-veep.
For all of Edwards populist talk Kerry wont be able to do much in domestic policy due to deficits and GOP control of Congress.

but I think I read here (about 10,000 times) that Clark is inelibible by law to be Secretary of Defense. A SecDef must be out of active military for 10 years before taking the CIVILIAN position of SecDef.

by "waiver" they mean congress changed the law for him.
I think it's a bad idea to do so. The law is there for good reason.

I'm sorry, but just thinking of five stars vs. five deferments in that VP debate...
I am of course backing K/E will my full effort, but I must say this:
When Edwards spoke of destroying terrorists, it did not ring true to me. When Clark said it, it did.
They are going to go after Edwards HARD on this - really really HARD.
I hope he has the mettle for it., and that he can make the case that HE, not Kerry, can fight that battle.
I know Wes can.

27. No. I love him but it's redundant. |
|
Kerry's strengths are Clark's strengths - military records, foreign policy expertise, gravitas. Edwards is a better balance for the ticket.
