2. Yeah he's making a deal about Kerry |
|
Racing through his applause lines. The crowd booed Scarborough, then he said "You can boo if you want." then Mathews scolded Scarborough "Ease it up, Joe. Don't taunt the crowd."
I love it.

3. EVERY speech all week was rushed |

That's the demands of television. Wonder if they'll put the same demands on the Pubs?

13. Half of a Bush speech consists of applause. |
|
His speechwriters load his speeches with applause lines, and of course, Bush pauses for all of them.
I got the feeling that Kerry's "rushing" sent a good message - that he had a lot to say and had to say it as soon as possible.

come up with for a snipe against Kerry. That's the BEST he could do. He was loathe to say anything good about the guy. So THIS was the best he could do. Say goodnight, Joe. And yes, they booed him. You could hear it, even above the din. It was a great speech, Joe. Deal with it. Oh yeah, and what Teresa said! You can go shove it, too.

11. By the way, did anyone notice our DEAR friend Frank Luntz? |
|
Notice the difference in his demeanor between last night and tonight? He had that "focus group" of allegedly undecided voters. Last night while hearing their reactions to Edwards' speech he was actually a tiny bit cocky, a little smug because the reaction was lukewarm at best (well, it WAS an underwhelming speech). But tonight! Wow, what a difference. Luntz didn't crack a smile for the whole segment. He was rather sober. He looked like he'd just seen the future and realized he didn't see georgie-poo in it. Last night, he looked like he wasn't a bit worried. Tonight, he looked like he WAS.

12. What Scarborough is failing to consider |
|
is as soon as the speech was done, it's all sound bite snippets and the pace won't make any difference. I think Kerry's team knew this and were very smart about it. So, delivery in it's entirety won't matter and Scarborough stated himself that the speech text was "exceptional."
I only watched part of the panel's discussion but I saw Finemann getting irritated at Scarborough. It was great!! I also saw him looking at Matthews as if to say, "a little help here, Chris. He's hogging again and I have something to say!" Sometimes, I wish Howard would go ahead and talk over Joe till he shuts his yap!
It was an excellent speech and I thought Kerry delivered!! But, he wasn't trying to sell me.
