4. It was a home run. Best since 1960.
My first political memory was Nixon-Kennedy, 1960, and I have been hooked ever since. This was the best ever. Clinton and Carter really connected viscerally, but Kerry connected, and also did so in a better fashion intellectually. Empty your pants now, Karl Rove.

7. Thanks! I switched chanels when I heard he was going to be on.
I couldn't stand to watch another Pub sponsored research panel. I must say I'm surprised at the remarks here. I truly believed those folks were plants.

his polls showed that Kerry got huge positives on protecting and defending our country. Just what Kerry needed.

14. The "reporting for duty" image, the first thing viewers heard

is an image that will stick with them, especially as the Bushies struggle to "look for" the chimp's military records.

10. At the risk of appearing utterly trivial...
didn't it seem that Luntz had real hair tonight? That toussled look was a bit more natural and it made me think that perhaps ol' Frank actually has some hair of his own.

Whatever the case, hair or no hair, he must have gone home and poured himself a real stiff one tonight!

11. Here's what David Brooks had to say on PBS
When asked what the republican response to Kerry's speech would be his initial response was "First they change clothes because they've been sweating for an hour." I really like Brooks because he's one of the only honest conservative analysts out there.

He also said that the shrub team will have to go negative because Bush is already a 'known quantity' - and by implication that he has a bad image. So they will have to try to tear down Kerry's credibility. He also said that that will be much harder to do after this speech and convention. He acknowledged that Kerry has established himself as a credible alternative to bush (something no other conservative would ever dare do).

And Brooks also said that maybe going negative won't work for the chimp, and that the pugs might have to actually run on their record and policies (again implying that this would be a weakness for them).

It ain't over till the fat lady sings, but what's that sound I hear in the distance?

13. Yes... I've basically tried to ignore Brooks' snarfy comments all week...
But, he was amazingly fair tonight (and obviously very impressed with what he saw/heard).

16. Luntz is the current Repug guru -- He picks the words ... scientifically.
This guy is the mastermind of the modern Repug party.

It's a lot like selecting the weapons for a duel.

Frank makes sure that the repugs are using nothing but the best words and phrases.
