I am concerned by this quote from Kerry's Speech..
I want to address these next words directly to President George W. Bush: In the weeks ahead, let's be optimists, not just opponents. Let's build unity in the American family, not angry division. Let's honor this nation's diversity; let's respect one another; and let's never misuse for political purposes the most precious document in American history, the Constitution of the United States.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Any insight as to what Kerry meant by this? Perhaps I'm just paranoid after 4 years of Bushco, but I wouldn't put anything past them at this point.. How would George W. Bush misuse the Constitution?

23. The gay marriage thing never occurred to me
because of all the abuses of the past four years - Patriot Act - free speech zones, no lawyers for American citizens - all the abuses of Ashcroft - the selection itself on and on and on and yes I would add anti gay marriage as just one of the many -

13. different take on it here...
Kerry just challenged Bush to run a clean campaign.

Bush has two options...

1) Do what Kerry says and look like a fool for playing it Kerry's way.

2) Continue the mean campaign and look like a monster.

Bush'e panties have to be in a knot of that!

21. I took it as a reference to the general disrespect Bush has shown
the Constitution. Which would include both the Patriot Act and frivolous amendments.

The comment that concerned me was about increasing the number of regular military and stopping the back door draft of Guard and Reserve members. I hope he wasn't leaving the door open to a "front door" draft.

22. Bush has treated the constitution as a piece of toilet paper.
Just pick an issue: violating treaties, usurping power at every turn, undermining a well regulated militia, going to war illegally, subverting due process, warping the law to meet the needs of a few, and, recently floating hints that he might put off the next election after he so clearly stoled the last one. Etc
