1. It was a vast conspiracy designed
to have the producer say CHENEY on CNN thereby ensuring that America could not possibly vote for these people who use REALLY BAD WORDS - oh hell let's give the producer a time out and vote for Kerry anyway.

11. I'm watching the repeat of CNN's BalloonGate now...
... and honestly, I know the entire network is staffed by moronic camera-whores who are addicted to groupthink, fax-blasts and conventional wisdom, you don't have to tell me that, but it still shocked me that they spent a full five minutes immediately following Kerry's fantastic speech to wax about the stupid freaking balloons not dropping!!

Jeff Greenfield: It's reminiscent of Carter in '80, when the balloons trickled down one by one. It was an omen, and the Kerry camp is hoping that's not what's happening now.

Wolf Blitzer: The balloons are coming down! They're starting to come down!

Judy Woodruff: Wolf, I'm looking up right now, and I have to tell you, there are thousands of balloons still in the rafters that have yet to be released!

Wolf Blitzer: And now, as the balloons are coming down, let's find out what Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie thought about John Kerry's speech!

Amazing. Truly freaking amazing!! So amazing, that it's actually damned hilarious. :+

Hard as they try, they still can't bring me down from the high of this incredible week!!!

12. Lava Lady, don't even get me started about the friggin CNN Balloon BS
Not just the little Wolf-Judy-Jeff freak out about the friggin balloons, but the 5+ minutes of footage of Kerry and Dems hugging with a voice only on CNN shouting "BALLOON-BALLOONS-BALLOONS - WHERE ARE THE BALLOONS? WHERE ARE THE F*CKING BALLOONS (Yes, the Cheney word was used!) They later "apologized" but 5+ minutes of this voice? They even flashed the name of the person's voice on the screen...this wasn't a mistake...it was calculated....then of course having Ed Gillespie of the RNC on ....

:grr:

21. Right! Why did CNN have access to his microphone?
It wasn't being broadcast to any of the other stations. Then to have Judy Woodruff leap in to announce Jimmy Carter's acceptance speech ended with a bungled balloon drop.....

It was way too convenient for them, and they enjoyed it way too much. It wasn't really the kind of thing to get so excited about. They are shallow, stupid people at CNN.

23. Pachamama and JudiLyn....wow.
I hadn't really thought of that, because in the repeat, they cut out all the naughty bits that are now forever archived at Drudge.*

Good questions... why was he on a live feed mic? Why did they have his name ready-to-type for the CNN subtitle staffer?

Grrr... and just to clarify, it was the ridiculous reaction of the CNN asshats that had me laughing... not the incident itself. :-)

*fuckstick.

15. holy crap, my little slut-musket
they really said that? I was watching c-span and even started a thread here about "where are the balloons" but I never thought the "real" media would've made notice of it.

Damn, I need my own cable network.

And yes, you do need your own cable network!

Since I had heard about CNNBalloonGate before actually seeing it on repeat, I found it pretty damned hilarious. I probably would have reacted differently to their banal yammering had I first seen it just after Kerry's magnificent speech... but I didn't see it that way (I LOVE CSPAN!), and honestly, I almost swallowed my tongue watching it, it was so damned funny.

Daily Show better be all over this tomorrow...

13. I think...
I think that the balloons weren't supposed to drop all at once. Maybe they were supposed to be released at timed intervals at each other the state posts! For example, they would fall over the crowd in the Arizona section, then to the next state, and so on. Just my thoughts...

18. It wasn't the CLENIS... it was HILLARY!!!
Bwwwwaaaaaa-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!

DRUDGE REPORT WORLD EXCLUSIVE
***MUST CREDIT DRUDGE REPORT!!! SERIOUSLY!!!***

Hillary Clinton orchestrated the demise of the John Kerry/John Edwards ticket last night, when her highly-trained Balloon Tampering Squad ensured that the much-touted Kerry Balloon Drop would not proceed as planned.

"Shove it," Hillary was reported as saying, shortly before she actually shoved an overzealous Kerry staffer attempted to stop her from grasping the balloon cords.

DEVELOPING HARD...

22. To be honest I never noticed...I was still in awww over Kerry's speech!
I thought that the balloons were planning to drop at different times...I liked the way it went tonight. Even if not a single balloon fell from the roof, I think it would have been magnificent.

Kerry raised the roof in that place. Balloons or no balloons.

24. this was especially weird
cuz c-span interviewed the 'balloon coordinator' (honest that was the title under her name tho, I can't remember her name) earlier in the afternoon. They asked her how one goes about becoming the 'balloon coordinator. She said she wasn't certain. She self identified as a mezzo-soprano then gave stats on balloons & confetti (took 2 days and 3 people 2 fill 'n bag the balloons - 1000 lbs of confetti) Asked about the drop, she said she had 2 trust it would all go as planned, She would B back stage w/ her crew, a fan and balloons 2 blow balloons on2 the stage as there was no drop over the stage. C-span did a huge 'look up' shot of all the bagged balloons. I was thinking of her watching the slo-mo release.

This will B ALL the whorporate media will talk about 2morrow morning. The balloon drop tragedy....oh, the anguish...oh, the heartbreak.....it spoiled EVERYTHING.
