Kerry Republicans?
I think there is the possibility of a large desertion of moderate republicans voting for Kerry this election. If he does well in his first term there exists the possibility of a semi-permanent shift i.e. the 'Reagan Democrats.'

I also think that this is the year we get back a lot of those who stopped voting Dem in '80 and '84. Keep the moderate unity theme and we can sweep the field and hold our gains.

1. Would it be manipulative to make "Republican for Kerry" bumper stickers
and put them on our cars? lol That's a bad idea.

4. Not a bad idea at all
I think "Republican for Kerry" bumper stickers are a good idea.

Probably wise to remove the "Free Tibet" sticker, though, if you want it to be believed!

2. I agree, this could be a critical factor
Granted there aren't going to be many but even a small percentage defecting to Kerry from Bush could swing a state to the Dem column.

If Kerry wins in a landslide or in a surprisingly easy victory I think it will be because of these folks.

3. There's a market
I've been thinking about buying some of this stuff -- great way to attract fence sitters. "I don't NOT like George Bush, I just think Kerry's the better man for the job."

5. If you read Thomas Franks' "What's the Matter with Kansas"
you start to think there might be a big backlash against ultraright conservatism in the Midwest, where wingers stole the Party apparatus in the 1990s. Kerry would be the ideal Democrat for these "Mods," as Franks calls them, to lash back.

16. It's an excellent book.
He's describing a real phenomenon, this removal of economic interest from the debate, which is essentially a very successful ploy by the right to coopt (and disempower) the working class. Every Democrat should read this book.

I've been thinking this for a while now. The pendulum is due to swing back in our direction, and this is the year for it to happen.

Simple. Stenciling is a little militaristic. They'll dig it.

10. HELL YEAH
but one thing: please don't let any Kerry Republicans influence policy or somehow change the Democratic party. As a big time left-leaning liberal, there really aren't many places I can go anymore unless I want to join the anarchists out front being wacky, ok?

11. Shhhhh...
We're all moderates, especially Kerry. Kerry and Edwards are, in fact, the most moderate politicians in the history of the nation. Moderate, moderate, moderate. Did I mention they were moderate? Not some dastardly liberals, but moderate.

Works with swing voters, anyway.

:hi:
