So, was there an "America Remembers" thing for Paul Wellstone?
I didn't watch the whole convention and rather than assuming that they did or did not I would like to hear from those of you who saw the whole thing. It would do me a great favor.
Thank You! :hi:

1. They did a piece on the overhead screen for those Dems who
have passed since the last convention. It was a moving tribute and Wellstone was the last one honored in the line up. The people errupted in adoring applause.

Perhaps others can contribute more. Hope this helps.

5. I believe it was
either Wednesday or Tuesday early on in the day.

If I'm not mistaken, I think we can get copies of this convention on DVD/video at C-span.

6. It was fairly early on so I would say Monday or Tuesday,
And it was within the first couple of hours. They finished with Wellstone's own words. It was nice.

7. Correct.
They mentioned Wellstone in the memorial, but did not use any of his quotes. Disappointing, but no one, and no convention is perfect. It was still good, all things considered.

10. Welcome to DU!
:hi:

And yes, to me it is very disappointing. Kind of a let down, because there was such a void at the convention with his and Shelia's absence.

2. sorry - I didn't see a remembrance for Paul, but Gen Clark held a
moment of silence in his speech for our war dead.

8. Very little mention of Wellstone
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 12:05 AM by kwolf68
I think only Dennis and Al mentioned him.

As someone in Paul's left corner...I can deal as I know the gig, but you bastards better not forget us and I trust they wont.

Senator Wellstone was the one man that made me believe. His like will never be seen again.

JFK, Bobby, MLK, PW...What a tragic loss. Maybe God is a Nazi Republican.

9. And Mondale, bless him
And he too made me believe in the political process. At the age of nine I learned there was some hope when I first heard about Wellstone on NPR.

13. Paul Wellstone

Shall never be forgotten.

As long as I breath air I will never let go of his name. Even my right wing Repuke wife said, "he seems like he really does care."

I loved that man. I am to this day devestated we lost him...and I am pissed off that dickheads like Thurmond and Helms last forever and Wellstone and his wife perish like they did so young.

I will never forget that man...NEVER. NEVER. NEVER.

17. late last night, after letting Ohio take MN's turn and vote Kerry over the
top, Fritz Mondale got to enter Minnesota's votes - in his short presentation, he said ' Minnesota, the state of Hubert Humphrey, Paul and Sheila Wellstone . . .' and went on a little more.

I didn't hear the Wellstone's names other than from him.

12. Yes there was a remembrance for all the Dems who died since the last
convention. And it ended with Wellstone, they definately knew a lot of people were emotional about him. A lot of speakers mentioned him as well.

16. Does anyone specifically remember the day
for sure? Cause it'd take a long time to look through 3 hours of three days. Thanks!
