I think I might have caught the bug...
The hope and optimism bug. I usually shrug off the politics of empty promises and fluffy words of hope, but I think I can really believe.

Getting rid of this administration is like lifting the veil off America's eyes, letting us see the sunlight of hope and a successful future. The signs in the FleetCenter were right- American CAN be better.

Out goes Bush and his politics of "with us or against us", Freedom Fries, corporate welfare, and standing up for "the little man" while passing tax cuts for the rich and cutting veterans benefits.

Out goes Cheney with his shifty eyes, his fraudulent business connections, his backdoor energy deals, his veins pumping with oil and his pockets lined with money.

Out goes John Ashcroft and his raping of the Constitution, his extremist Christianity, his terrorism scare tactics.

Out goes Rumsfeld and his shrugging off our soldiers deaths, his talk of the "humanity" of our bombing, his ignorance of the desperation of our soldiers, stretched too thin without enough armor and ammo.

Think of it- Out with them, in with the scholars of Clark, Albright, Clinton, and the like. The dream team.

For the sake of America and the world, Hope and Help are on the way. Hopefully!

1. You were feeling pretty pessimistic...
Recently weren't you? Or am I thinking of someone else.

4. Yes, that was me
And I bet this is just a temporary convention "bounce", but I hope not.

I know I want to defeat Bush, the only problem was that I didn't know we could do it. Kerry has at least temporarily assuaged my fears.

6. Good
See, I pay attention to my fellow DUers. :D

I think you'll get that feeling again after the debates. I don't see how it's possible for Kerry NOT to trounce Bush in a debate. And putting Cheney & Edwards together on TV...talk about a STAAAARK contrast. That's gonna resonate with viewers.

2. After the hell we've been through these past four years
a shot of hope is almost too much of a shock to our systems, huh?

Good Post. Belated Welcome to DU! :hi:

3. It's actually kind of hard to believe it's been 4 years of hate and fear,
isn't it?!

Freedom Fries. With us or against us. Orange Alert. Pre Magna Carta Emperor powers, no habeas corpus. Shock and awe. Abu Ghraib. Patriot Act. Quack quack.

What a long, crappy trip it's been... Let's hope it's over in a few months.

7. So right Mayberry
I noticed throughout the convention the contrast between the speakers there and what we have come to expect from "our leaders" with Team Bush. It was like having gotten used to a black and white depressing film and suddenly we were now watching an uplifting movie in techni-color.

The sharp contrast was evident. Like Clinton said, "they need us to be divided, we don't." I didn't see fear mongering and the like coming out of Boston, you know we'll see it in New York.

5. I had lost complete faith in 2002-2003.
Remember how anything you said, would be construed as being a traitor or "anti-american"? I remember watching James Carville frothing at the mouth on Crossfire trying to inject a drop of reason, only to be laughed down by the crowd and Novakula because supporting Bush was the "cool" thing to do. Man, those days were dark. Getting penned up by the NYPD in the freezing cold just trying to exercise my right to assemble. How much our country has changed in so little time....
