SHOULD BUSH TAKE ENGLISH CLASSES BEFORE THE RNC!
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 12:15 AM by Tight_rope
We all have seen and heard how horrible George W. Bush is when he speaks to the public. I live in Houston, TX, and I can tell you that some of us down here do know how to speak English. However, when I hear Bush speak, I am appalled. I have to turn the channel or mute the TV. I know, I shouldn't worry because we won't be seeing much of him again after November 2, but just to be fair I am going to watch the RNC. Yes, I know, why would anyone want to listen to hours and hours or more lies. Like I said. I want to be fair. But I tell you this. Come the last day of the RNC, if Bush hasn't learned to speak English. I will exercise my American right to turn the channel or mute the TV!

9. Agreed.
I certainly don't count on * screwing up his speech (although I do wonder how many people believe a word that comes out of his pretzel-hole). The debates...that's a different matter altogether.

3. You know it's more than just how he pronounces his words
it's the whole package with him that just makes me want to vomit and has, since WAY back in the day (think 1994).

There's the little panting he does between phrases or sentences (depending on how short the sentence was)....has anyone ever noticed that? When he stops to take a breath it is really obvious and noisy. THAT is annoying as hell.

Then there is the totally affected drawl. Let's look at this for a moment, shall we? As someone with a minor in Linguisics, I know a tad about it. He was born in New England to New England parents who do NOT have a southern drawl. He spent a few years of his childhood in Texas, true, but then attended prep school in Maryland and undergrad at Yale. Grad school was Harvard. He was kinda all over the place after that. Then governor of Texas, long after his speech patterns would have been set. And he's been in DC for four years.

Now HOW in the HELL would he still have THAT thick of a dialect?

Answer: he wouldn't. Seriously, he wouldn't. He might legitimately have a TINY drawl, but not much. Barely noticeable. He works it, thickens it. It's all part of that hijacked identity of Texas cowboy which is so much bullshit it makes me want to puke my dinner up.

Then there's the walk. Can someone once and for all get that corncob or whatever it is out of his ASS??

Lastly, the smirk. I don't think I've ever seen a facial expression on that man that looked the slightest bit GENUINE. It's all fake, phony. I want to run my fingernails across a chalkboard when I see that smirk.

So you see, it's all of it. Add the fact that he can't say five words without three of them being "uh" and that he says the same damn things over and over and over again and you've got Syrup of Ipecac in person form.

Yep.

6. Finally. The true and complete description of GWB.
"Syrup of Ipecac in person form". I'm howling.

His voice is fingernails on the chalkboard to me. I literally will not listen to him whenever he is on the news. Thank God for the mute button. Don't know how I'm going to get through the RNC. Drunk most likely. ;)

Bush is make believe Tex. and said some place it is how the people talk or some such thing about it makes him sound like a real normal person. He will do it more now as Kerry talks so upper class. Like JFK and FDR
