Democrats vs. Republicans using Van Halen songs. Your thoughts.
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 11:07 AM by coloradodem2004
During the Clinton era was a time of hope. A record number of jobs were created and the debt was paid down. THere was a lot to live for. People were soaring high on what life had to offer during these times. They had dreams.

Dreams
World turns black and white
Pictures in an empty room
Your love starts fallin' down
Better change your tune
Yeah, you reach for the golden ring
Reach for the sky
Baby, just spread your wings

We'll get higher and higher
Straight up we'll climb
We'll get higher and higher
Leave it all behind

Run, run, run away
Like a train runnin' off the track
Got the truth bein' left behind
Falls between the cracks
Standin' on broken dreams
Never losin' sight, ah
Well just spread your wings

We'll get higher and higher
Straight up we'll climb
We'll get higher and higher
Leave it all behind

So baby dry your eyes
Save all the tears you've cried
Oh, that's what dreams are made of
'Cause we belong in a world that must be strong
Oh, that's what dreams are made of

Yeah, we'll get higher and higher
Straight up we'll climb
Higher and higher
Leave it all behind
Oh, we'll get higher and higher
Who knows what we'll find?

So baby dry your eyes
Save all the tears you've cried
Oh, that's what dreams are made of
Oh baby, we belong in a world that must be strong
Oh, that's what dreams are made of

And in the end on dreams we will depend
'Cause that's what love is made of

Then in 2000 the evil George W. Bush came to power. All of that was shattered. People lost their jobs and lost hope. People were scared. They were scared of what lay ahead. The dream was over.

The Dream is Over
Psst!
Hey, come on man. Wake up

Yea-yeah!

I see the power changin' hands
Risin' from the streets
A self-made businessman
Knows how the system can be beat

Oh, we're the lost generation
Have no place to go
The road to destruction
Is all we need to know

'Cuz it's a rip-off
We're stepped on and cheated
We're flat stone cold lied to
We're not defeated. No!

It's ah, easy money
It's a way out
Join the family
No middleman. No IRS
Your ticket out of poverty

Oh, we're the lost generation
I hold fate from a string
Lookin' for a direction
Reachin' out for anything

So, dream another dream
This dream is over (Ooo-ooo-ooo)
Dream another dream
This dream is over (Ahh-ahh)
Dream another dream (Dream another dream)
This dream is over (Ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo)
Over, yeah
So dream another dream!

(Guitar Solo)

Oh!
Ow!

Ow! It's a rip-off
We're stepped on and cheated
Flat stone cold lied to
We're not defeated. No!

Dream another dream
This dream is over (Ooo-ooo-ooo)
Dream another dream
This dream is over, over (Dream another dream)
Dream another dream
This dream is over, oh (Ooo-ooo-ooo)
Dream another dream
This dream is over. Over, yeah (Dream another dream)
(Dream) Dream another dream (Ooo-ooo-ooo)
Dream another dream
(Dream) Dream another dream (Ooo-ooo-ooo)
Oh, this dream is over
(Dream) Dream another dream (Dream another dream)
Dream another dream

While Many Americans were in despair, the evil one saw no need to remedy the situation. And outside of the rush to get into Iraq, Bush just felt like kicking back.

Judgement Day
Arr-heah!

It's my life. Get off my ass, get outta my face
Man, I don't see no problem
Kickin' back, ain't kickin' you, no no!
Anyway, if I make 'em, I'll solve 'em

Whoa, oh, ohh. That's right. Yeah yeah-yeah. Woo!

Makin' plan's a waste. Ain't no future here
Got no faith, got no religion

Oh tell me why (ooh-ooh) should I (ooh-ooh)
(Ahh) Care or even, why should I try?
I just slide slide on by (ooh-ooh)
(Ahh) Never bad enough to crucify me

Huah! Put it out until Judgement Day
I'll bear the cross on Judgement Day

I done most anything, keep 'em doin' anything 'cause
Sometimes I just wanna do nothin'
Nothin' lost, so tell me how can I lose? Ha
When I'm startin' off with nothin'

Oh tell me why (ooh-ooh) should I (ooh-ooh)
(Ahh) Care or even wanna try?
I just slide (ooh) slide on by (ooh-ooh)
(Ahh) Never bad enough to crucify me.

Ow! Put it off until Judgement Day
I'll bear that (same old cross) same ol' cross
On Judgement Day. Ow!

Uh! Uh!
Ow! Hey!

(Guitar Solo)

Woo!
Mmm

Hey man, everything's all right. Yeah.
Whow! Ow!

Put it off, until Judgement Day
I'll bear the cross, on, Judgement Day, hey
Put it off, put it off, until Judgement Day
I'll bear the (bear the cross) cross
On, Judgement Day

Ow! Whoa yeah! On Judgement Day
(Put it off) Oh! Whoa yeah! On Judgement Day, hey!
Wow!

In 2004, we have a lot of problems and they need to be fixed. Now we have John Kerry who last night gave a kick ass speech at the Democratic National Convention. He believes that we need to fix things and we need to do it right now.

Right Now
Don't wanna wait 'til tomorrow
Why put it off another day?
One by one, little problems
Build up, and stand in our way. Oh

One step ahead, one step behind it
Now ya gotta run to get even
Make future plans I'll dream about yesterday, hey!
Come on turn, turn this thing around

(Right now) Hey! It's your tomorrow
(Right now) Come on, it's everything
(Right now) Catch your magic moment
Do it right here and now
It means everything

Miss a beat, you lose a rhythm
An nothin' falls into place. No!
Only missed by a fraction
Slipped a little off your pace. Oh!

The more things you get, the more you want
Just trade in one for another
Workin' so hard to make it easy
Whoa, got to turn. Come on, turn this thing around

(Right now) Hey, it's your tomorrow
(Right now) Come on, it's everything
(Right now) catch that magic moment
Do it right here and now
It means everything

Said a lie to me
Right now
What are ya waitin' for? Oh! Yeah!
Right now

(Guitar Solo)

(Right now) Hey! It's your tomorrow
(Right now) Come on, it's everything
(Right now) Catch that magic moment
And do it right, right now (Right now)
Oh, right now!

It's what's happening
Right here and now
Right now, it's right now
Oh!
Tell me, what are ya waitin' for?
Turn this thing around

THere you have it. Most Democrats care about solving problems and helping people achieve their dreams while most Republicans are lazy pigs who will take those dreams away.
