I lost it on the phone with someone on the schoolboard this morning. Because of education cuts, there were changes this year that affected my kids and the secretary on the phone from the school board was a bit too smug. I just lost it.

Anyway, I didn't accomplish anything, except to realize how relieved I'll be when someone who really cares about children comes into office. I still don't know why anyone who cares about public school kids would vote for a Republican nor do I understand why Republicans are allowed to run public schools. It boggles the mind.

1. The Republicans are organized nationally
Their fascist tentacles extend to all levels of government, down to country commissioners, school boards, etc. Not just run-of-the-mill Republicans, but the wacko wing. Scary.

2. All my professional associates are scrambling for work
Really, I don't know anyone who openly admits to being a Republican except one company owner who does a lot of Republican type projects.

3. Not really a change - I've always been so mercurial
And as a science professional who works in a laboratory conducting research on Alzheimer's, Parkinsons and diabetes etc., one of favorite retorts to somebody spewing repug rhetoric - especially the older ones who're candidates for such diseases - is something along the lines of "Well, don't come crying to me when I'm in the unemployment line after you voted for Bush and your hands start to shake."
