Today...today I washed my car and finally affixed a Kerry sticker to the
spot once claimed by a Dean sticker...

Today...today I removed the Dean sign out of my front window (I had promised my husband that after the convention was over it would be removed) I ran my hands over the name, thought of all the work I had done, and then began to put it behind me. I admit, I got teary during roll call the other night wishing it could have been different.

Today...today I listened to that "other candidate" tell his supporters that my daughter has less rights than a bundle of cells...that it's okay for my 5 year old boy to wake up crying and scared, in the name of fear. That it's okay for 5 year old boys in other countries to never wake up again, and that their families should rejoice in the "freedom" given to them at that high cost.

Today...today I heard the name of God come from this man's mouth...and I swear I waited for lightening to strike his head. Just like my grandma would tell me happened when people took God's name in vain, or for their own personal gain...

Most of all...

Today...I decided to take a fresh look at this man that I have been so ambivalent about. Today I decided to stop being ABB and AFK (All for Kerry)

Please help me out. Don't yell at me to get in line. Work with me to change the world.

Laura

2. I donated to the Kerry campaign last week
but still haven't received the bumper stickers. Can't wait to show up at the VFW with a Kerry/Edwards sticker on my SUV.

6. I caucused for Dean last fall,
but was always comfortable with any of our candidates (well, Lieberman was borderline). I'm very satisfied now. I believe we have two good men on the ticket who are the personifications of hope, both as they have lived their lives and how they envision a better world. The message I got last night was that all good ideas are welcomed from whichever side of the political discourse, even the conservative side. This nation cannot afford another Civil War--physical or ideological. I am very hopeful. I still have a soft spot for Dean because he gave the party a voice and taught it how to use that voice. I want him to have a major role in a Kerry administration. There's much work to do yet, Laura, and we will all stand together to get it done.

10. That was pretty much the message I got as well.
It's taken me some time to sort out conflicting ideologies and the like. But in the end, I'm on board!

7. Kerry wasn't my first choice either
but I've tried to be very careful not to attack any of the candidates, knowing that eventually our party would settle on one and it may not be the one I wanted most.

Now I'm really glad it is Kerry because it's going to take a man with his gravity and moral authority to extract us from all the chaos Bush has gotten us into. Listening to last night's speech, I was convinced that the party consensis was right.

But you know that's what you have to do in politics, you always have to compromise, then you have to pick up and support the party's choice. I've always been willing and glad to do that.

11. I have never attacked, only questioned. And I truly only wished to stay
true to myself and what was important to me. What is truly most important to me is stopping this insane ride we've all been taken on, and I really do believe...yes this is MrsGrumpy speaking, that Kerry can do it for us! :hi:

13. Bumper stickers
This is Goddess40s mom. Would it be smarter to put the bumper stickers on the front bumper rather than the rear bumper? This way most of the time when you park the bumper is not showing for freepers to damage your car. Also, people coming toward you on the road would see it and you wouldn't be threatened by weirdos driving up behind you. I have had my car scratched when I had a "I Vote Democratic" on my car. Goddess40 had her Kerry sticker removed at Mall of America. Both stickers were on the back bumpers.

15. Luckily, my Democratic Underground sticker has never been touched.
I can honestly say (cross fingers) I've never had a key scratch, and I guess I'm not going to let it stop me. It's just a vehicle, and I just think my kids' futures are more important. Mine are on the glass of my minivan. Right next to the Green Bay Packer sticker. I live in the Detroit Metro area and rabid Lions fans comment but have never touched.

I guess I'm trying to still have faith that underneath it all, my neighbors are rational people. But, you never know. Thanks for the advice. :hi:
