Mark Dayton just stated that NORAD and the FAA lied about 9/11 (C-SPAN) |
|
He showed how the commission's report and the statements, at times SWORN testimony, from the NORAD and FAA officials are in direct conflict--at one point a time was given for a notification of a hijack before the commission's timeline recognized the hijacking as having taken place. He also showed how Bush's administration has lied about his actions on that day, according to the report. According to the White House / Bob Woodward version, Bush spoke on the phone with Rumsfeld before 10AM about the orders and procedures to shoot down planes, when in fact no such call took place until after 10AM according to the report, and the conversation transcript showed nothing about such procedures. Are there any news articles on these huge differences in timelines and content for the story we were told and the story the report tells?

Did you see this on TV or what? Link?
(And while you're at it, remind me who Mark Dayton is. Thanks.)

Every other panel member and commissioners were just staring and had there jaws dropped. Soon as his time was up they were quick to move along with no response.

11. I'm proud I had the chance to vote for Dayton |
|
And I'm very proud of him for finding his voice.
I spent only 3 years in Minnesota and I'm thankful for having Wellstone as my Senator...even if it was for only 2 short years. :(
Now if I could just be blessed with someone decent down here in TX.

12. Sen Dayton spent this week reading the 9/11 report. Our other senator |
|
Norm Coleman (republican who took Paul Wellstone's seat and immediately bragged that he was 98% better, or offensive words to that effect) . . .
Coleman spent the week at OUR Democratic Convention as one of bush's Truth Squad minions.
Sen Mark Dayton has more integrity, quality, intelligence, guts and patriotism in his fingertip than Coleman has - well you get what I'm trying to say.
Dayton confronted Rumsfeld in a recent committee hearing also. He has the grit all of our elected officials should have.

The report needs scrutiny like this in order to open more relevant investigations directed toward the obvious cover-up by the administration of its incompetence and inertia to deal with the real "gathering threat".

14. I listened to most of this today. Dayton was GREAT! |
|
I'm reading the part of the 9/11 Report that he referenced right now. I swear I also heard him say that Rummy made "incorrect statements" too. I was going to post it here, but I wanted to make sure that's actually what I heard him say.
I'm not sure, but lots of times, by the next day, you can find the vider of these hearings on the c-span web site.

15. The White House USED Woodward to spin their lies. |
|
Woodward is the Bush family pet. Poppy took him from Naval Intelligence and planted him at the Washington Post and then 4 months later started feeding him the Watergate story.
Ever notice in the 80s and 90s that Woodward could never find anything Bush did wrong in BCCI, IranContra or Iraqgate?

Remember Woodward on Larry King stating that he didn't see a story in Enron scandal?
He never saw one on IranContra or BCCI, either. He mealy-mouthed any antiBush story.
Look how he set up Tenet to be Bush's fall guy...Slam dunk? MY ASS!

22. Why would GHB do that to NIxon? |
|
Even with finishing 2 terms, he would have been out of office and not in GHB's way to the WH. Why would he do something like that to his own Party?
Maybe I'm too naive, but I can't see the payoff being worth it.

23. Nixon was showing erratic behavior and |
|
elements of his abuses were becoming known. If they came out later rather than earlier it would have a detrimental effect on any Republican gearing up for a run on Bush's timetable. Remember, he intended to be President in Jan 1981.
I don't think it was happenstance that Nixon had trouble with his VPs either. Bush needed them to have their share of troubles.

26. Why would he do that to nixon? |
|
Because the RW hated nixon as much as we did. He opened Communist china for one thing. Also there were price controls, among other reasons for RW nixon hate etc. imo
Opening up China to the west was a big big big assed deal back then. tib

25. Cooperativeresearch.org has a timeline with refs. |
|
Apparently Rumsfeld was not in contact with Bush until after 10.30, according to Paul Thompson's timeline. http:www.cooperativeresearch.org/timeline.jsp?timeline=complete_911_timeline_bush_on_9/11 "(After 8:46 a.m.) Brigadier General Montague Winfield is in command of the National Military Command Center (NMCC), “the military's worldwide nerve center.” According to NORAD command director Captain Michael Jellinek, at some point not long after the WTC hit, telephone links are established with the National Military Command Center (NMCC) located inside the Pentagon (but on the opposite side from where the Pentagon explosion will happen), Canada's equivalent command center, Strategic Command, theater commanders, and federal emergency-response agencies. An Air Threat Conference Call is initiated. At one time or another, Bush, Cheney, key military officers, leaders of the FAA and NORAD, the White House, and Air Force One are heard on the open line. Says Winfield, “All of the governmental agencies there that, that were involved in any activity that was going on in the United States at that point, were in that conference.” The call continues right through the Pentagon explosion, as the NMCC doesn't even feel the impact. However, despite being in the Pentagon, Defense Secretary Rumsfeld doesn't join the NMCC or the call until 10:30.
"(After 9:56 a.m.) After flying off in Air Force One, Bush talks to Vice President Cheney on the phone. Cheney recommends that Bush authorize the military to shoot down any plane under control of the hijackers. “I said, ‘You bet,’ ” Bush later recalls. “We had a little discussion, but not much.” Flight 93 is still in the air, and fighters are given orders to intercept it and possibly shoot it down.
http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/timeline.jsp?timeline=complete_911_timeline&startpos=800#a1030rumsfeld
"10:30 a.m. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld finally enters the Pentagon's National Military Command Center (NMCC), where the military's response to the 9/11 attacks is being coordinated. Rumsfeld was supposedly in the Pentagon meeting with Representative Cox (R) about missile defense and terrorism until the Pentagon explosion. He then went outside to help the wounded of the attack until this time (see (9:38 a.m.)). Brigadier General Montague Winfield later says, “For 30 minutes we couldn't find him. And just as we began to worry, he walked into the door of the National Military Command Center.” "
