Perhaps the reason Hollywood celebs are more to the left
They're rich now, but weren't born rich. The understanding that sucess came through hard work and luck leads a person to the left. The understanding that you are rich because you're entitled to it leads a person to the left.

The American dream isn't about being born rich, it's about working your way to the top. Americans who have lived the dream want to see others able to live it as well. Americans born into the elite want to keep what they have, screw everyone else.

2. I think it has more to do with understanding the human condition
Being artistic = being in touch with human emotions = empathy

3. Agree and I also think celebrities
generally have just been around more. Most have traveled overseas, which can open your eyes to the reality of the world. They're exposed to lots of different lifestyles here at home as well and understand that different does not mean dangerous.

5. It should be a prerequisite that before you can join
the Republican party, you have to travel to a 3rd world country and live there for a month like other people live. There still would be Republicans, but they would certainly be more humble and really compassionate about what happens to other people and what could also happen to them. I really don't mind Republicans; true old fashioned Republicans, but I do mind the closed-minded, greedy, me me me Republicans that think nothing about anybody but themselves.

yup, most are left, but I don't really agree the reason is they weren't born rich. In fact, a very good chunk of them were born into wealth.

I just think artists by their very nature don't fall for jingoistic moronism...they don't see the world as black-and-white.
