1. The Lincoln quote was brilliant. It's a point I was happy to have heard. |

Thank you, Senator Kerry.

2. so much but he was great |
|
I thought despite the fact he's making himself out to be centrist, he gave a speech that had a great progressive outlook and showed himself to be a gracious guy, when he thanked his past opponents for teaching him and helping him learn more.

4. >To have an America where women are truly equal |
|
>That we need to be opening fire stations here instead of in Baghdad. >That the flag belongs to the American people. >That he will work to restore our pride in our country. >That Americans are great people. We need to use our strength and greatness for the good of the world. >Arrogance doesn't cut it. We're sick of it. >We need to be humble and thankful for what we DO have. >Actions speak louder than words. >We should never say we CAN'T do better. We CAN. And WE WILL. >Some of the most amazing things have come about through science and innovation. Some of them have changed the world in ways we have never dreamed. We don't need to stifle science and new innovations. We need to embrace them and never stop striving for our dreams. Sometimes, we will even surpass our dreams. >Americans, in general, stand ready to fight and defend our country against threat. That doesn't always mean physical confrontation. We need to use our heads to solve problems as well as our military power (when needed).
I could go on. I was so impressed.

Seeing the sea of "America can do better" signs before him in the crowd. That was really inspiring. And how he said "We've created jobs that pay $9,000 less than they used to, and they say this is the best we can do? We know America can do better."

6. the Lincoln quote; in a different way "What can I say about Teresa?" |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 01:40 PM by truthspeaker
I flipped to a heavy metal station as soon as he mentioned Teresa. I am voting for Kerry for president, not for husband of the year. I don't give a flying fuck about his family life and Teresa Heinz Kerry, wonderful woman though she probably is, is not running for office.

10. His shots at Asscroft and the Saudis rang my bell... |
|
Other highlights for me:
His promise to tell the truth. His emphasis on education. His reaffirmation of the the importance of multilateralism. His comment about not taking the country to war unless there's a damn good reason. His comments about the importance of science.
Hell, he'd make a damn fine Prime Minister of Canada. If he gets Freeped in November, sed him north :-)
