Berger Cleared: Media Silence
This morning, "The Wall Street Journal" (not exactly a leftist rag) reported that Sandy Berger was cleared of all wrong doing. This was this morning's issue, yet there is virtual silence from the Corporate Media.

In my opinion, this demonstrates without any doubt that the media serves as an echo chamber for Republican Spin. With the crappy convention coverage and the Berger affair, I am very angry and I hope my fellow Democrats realize that we cannot trust the corporate media.

The silence is deafening:

Clinton Adviser Berger Cleared of Document Theft

President Clinton's national security adviser, Sandy Berger -- who'd been accused of stealing classified material from the National Archives -- has been cleared of all wrongdoing.
The National Archives and the Justice Department have concluded nothing is missing and nothing in the Clinton administration's record was withheld from the 9-11 Commission.

The Wall Street Journal reports archives staff have accounted for all classified documents Berger looked at.

Late last year they asked investigators to see if the former national security adviser removed materials during his visits.

Berger's lawyers said his client had inadvertently removed several photocopies of reports, but later returned them.

3. I saw it on CNN Headline News but...
It had the title in big letters..."Berger Investigation" not "Berger Cleared" even though that is exactly what the guy said. But if you were just looking at the tube, not listening you would be left with the impression he was still being investigated for criminal wrong doing.

Gee, imagine that? Leaving people with the wrong impression.

Archives Denies Report That Berger Is in the Clear

A senior spokeswoman for the National Archives denied a report Friday morning that Archives officials have cleared former Kerry-Edwards campaign adviser Sandy Berger on charges that he withheld documents from the 9/11 Commission.

"In spite of what the Wall Street Journal said, the National Archives really isn't commenting on this case because it's under investigation," Susan Cooper, chief spokeswoman for the Archives, told NewsMax.com.

6. Follow the link below to Scarborough Country.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5486890/

The guy's a fucking douche bag. MSNBC.com uses these notes to draw you in:

"Is the media giving former National Security Adviser Sandy Berger a free ride and trying to make Republicans the bad guys?"

Apparently, the White House is getting a free ride from MSNBC regarding his clearance.

Enough said.

8. Republicans will keep telling The Big Lie
I will be watching to see how this is handled. We all need to get our typing fingers ready to send letters and emails if the Berger clearing gets no play.

12. Standard Parctice for Totalitarian Imperial Amerikan Pravda
I've seen it so many times I no longer even wonder about it.

Amerika HAS NO FREE PRESS!

NONE!

And personally, I would support shipping the entire Bloated Toadying Corproate Media Establishment to Communist China, where they can essentially do the same job for the same kinds of people.

14. PRAVDA
at least in the old Soviet Union, the people had a healthy suspicion about what Pravda reported. Here, we are supposed to have a free press. Do you notice how CNN and the other networks use "Trust" in their self promotion? What a joke!

13. Which drops faster from "librul media" radar?
Stories implicating RWers or stories clearing democrats and their freinds? Oh, we must stop being so harsh on the poor "librul media." They probably ran some really worthwhile news, like pictures of Kerry in a cleansuit, or maybe some late breaking Laci Peterson/Michael Jackson/Jon Benet/Kobe Bryant news.

15. Keith Olberman just became the exception in the media
He just mentioned the WSJ article about all copies and originals allegedly taken by Berger having now been satisfactorily accounted for and that nothing was taken. He also noted that there has been no apology from Tom Delay who called the alleged taking of documents by Berger a burglary.

16. Did anyone watch Tucker Carlson -- or was he on

"Crossfire" today? He was really nasty about Sandy Berger. Of course, he's really nasty, in general.

I quit watching CNN Tuesday night. Never again!
