Ralph Nader to Kerry, "Call of your Dogs".
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20040730/pl_nm/campaign_nader_dc_1

I swear I'm going to throttle Nader if I can get my hands on him. He is being such an egotisic asshole. He "has no proof they're doing anything illegal"..............SO SHUT THE F%&K UP!

I once admired this man, now I loathe him.

Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 05:00 PM by nothingshocksmeanymo
Though Nader conceded that he had "no knowledge" of any illegal activities by Democrats, he said efforts to keep him and running mate Peter Camejo (news - web sites) off ballots were "unethical and inappropriate."

So is being funded by Repubs and pretending you are a grass roots movement you lying sack of dog shit.

Uh...Ralphie...is it our job to get your sorry ass on the ballot so you can throw it to Bush? Fuck you.

not only are we supposed to help him get on the ballot so he can be a stick in our spokes, fuck us over and give us Bush for four more years...we're ALSO supposed to let him...A FUCKING OPPONENT speakk at OUR convention!

What a narcissitic, assholic son of a bitch.

Nader, go fuck yourself!! You are a worthless bag of shit, and I can't wait till the day you are no longer breathing!!

so it has to be just to be in the limelight. I once idolized the man, but now I think he's egotistically insane. I'm truly hoping he bows out just before the election, but if his timing if off, people will still write him in.

6. As much as I dislike Nader this year, it would not suprise me one bit
especially after the treatment the members of my state's Kucinich delegation got at the DNC.

Besides being harrassed because of their "un-approved" signs, they were also browbeat into voting for Kerry with more lies and false promises from the party bigwigs.

I really don't like Nader running, but it is his right to do so. HOWEVER, I do NOT approve of Democrats taking the low road to get him. Every time they attack him on anything but the issues (officially or unofficially), they just generate more sympathy for him. That is NOT the way to win over skeptics, or swing voters who feel that Nader has every right to be in the race.

But apparently, the Dems are so afraid of EVERYTHING this year that they'll resort to Nixonian tactics to stifle all dissent. Truly, truly sad to see how far this party has fallen.

46. Um, no they did not
What they got was a war-friendly speech that said that peace was only possible "through strength" and more militarism.

We even fought like hell at the platform meetings to at least get a statement in the platform to call the Iraq War a mistake, and even THAT was not included (surely Kerry/Edwards aren't afraid to call the Iraq war a mistake, right?).

Certain delegates (who are also officers of the party in MN, btw) felt pressure to vote Kerry on the first ballot, and were even told that a vote for Kucinich would only count as "present" when the vote was taken.

They did NOT get what they asked for, nor have we for much of this process, even though we had a very sizable contingent at our state convention. We have been ignored, threatened, shunned, and treated like lepers despite our best efforts to "get along" and "go along", simply because we want ACCESS to the process, and want to help defeat Bush.

With friends like these, it's no suprises we're not afraid of our "enemies". :eyes:

What he is saying, if you would take off the blinders for a moment to hear it, is that heavy-handed tactics like this serve only to piss off the people who are attracted to Nader for whatever reason. If you are worried about them voting for Nader, pissing them off doesn't help.

45. Thank you, ibegurpard
THAT is EXACTLY what I'm saying.

Why do Democrats feel the need to stoop to Nixonian levels to "neutralize" the Nader effect? Are they really that afraid of him, or are they really that insecure about their candidate selection this year that an unemployed lawyer from D.C. really poses that big a threat?

Face it: most Nader 2000 voters are voting for Kerry. As are almost all Gore 2000 voters. That roughly gives Kerry 51%+ of the vote. Yet instead of accentuating the positives of Kerry/Edwards (of which there are many), they instead choose to focus their energy and attention on a statistical asterisk, who wouldn't be getting ANY press if it weren't for the overly zealous DNC "truth squads".

Nader-haters, the more you trash-talk Nader, the bigger he'll grow. Do it enough, and he may actually BECOME the problem you imagine him to be.

43. Exactly right
He told the delegates that he was releasing them, but that they should "vote their conscience" when the vote was to be tallied.

Unfortunately, some of the party leaders and higher-ups were STILL using strong-arm tactics against some of the hold-out Kucinich delegates. There were a couple of stories in the local Minneapolis paper about how some of the delegates felt intimidated to vote for Kerry on the first ballot, and other delegates were told that, since Kucinich was not going to be formally nominated, their votes "didn't count" and would only show up as "present", instead of as a vote for DK.

It could have been miscommunication (as the party brass claims), but this kind of behavior has gone on before from some of the party leaders-- either on purpose or inadvertantly-- so I hesitate to rule it out as only miscommunication.

Either way, the DK delegates have all pledged to support Kerry in one way or another this fall. So the party will have their votes, even though there's not even a token mention of peace in the platform, and Kerry does not yet have even the makings of plan to get us out of Iraq. Helluva deal, huh?

the biggest dose of all. Not only does he fail as champion of the rights of third parties and their candidates, he's doing his part to carry out the GOP's wishes for a complete one-party state.

Cheney is weighing down the Puke ticket this year. Why not kick him off and put Ralphie Boy on! <sarcasm on> Clearly, there are so many Republicans funding Ralphie Boy they really, truly feel that he is their man <sarcasm off>. The Puke love fest could just rally around their favorite 3rd party candidate, Ralphie could get his lust for power satisfied, and the boulder that is Cheney could be cut from its weighing effect on the ticket. Sounds like WIN WIN WIN for the Pukes.

22. I like how he blames Senator Kerry's campaign here.
Those dirty tricks, he said, included Democratic operatives "directly harassing" his signature gatherers in West Virginia and filing legal challenges to his candidacy in Arizona that he could not afford to fight in court.

They were probably just normal people who don't like him running and came across these petitioners. Why can't this guy figure out that most actual normal people who are left of center might actually object to him for real reasons?

24. Saint Ralph is a liar and a phony and always has been
He was paid up front to write his expose "Unsafe at Any Speed." His publisher wanted a book critical of General Motors and that's exactly what Nader the Prevaricator gave him for his thirty pieces of silver.
Truth is, GM had figured out what the problem was with the Corvair and had fixed it by the time the book ever came out. The cars on the Chevy dealers' lots were perfectly safe -- but Nader's half-truths and fudging and heaping mounds of BS caused a lot of people here in Saginaw and other GM towns to lose their jobs when the car was cancelled in the face of weak sales caused by his lies.
Nader is a fraud and a charlatan. He has never, ever done anything that wasn't, finally, for the glory of Nader. He treats his "Raiders" like crap, he owns stocks in many of the same companies he claims to be fighting and America, finally, would be no better or worse off had he never appeared on the scene.
That's my opinion. I know (believe me) that he has his supporters here -- however misguided. But I'm hoping Ralph soon writes another book -- this one exposing the dangers of taking long walks off short piers.
John
Nader is a paid-for tool of the Republicans and that's all he is. He doesn't have the guts to come to Saginaw.
