Tora! Tora! Tora! ....or Not to Tora ??
This is a decision that John Kerry will have to make in the next few days and weeks. Should he make a public request to the Bush campaign to stop the negative and personal attacks? Will it have any impact? The Bush regime will not stop their negative attacks. It is inbred into them.

Should Kerry keep his options open on the issue of whether to maintain a positive campaign under all circumstances? Or should he keep his options open if the attacks turn really vicious and personal? This is a strategy that the campaign will have to consider over the next few days...

1. There is nothing more annoying than these meta-issues in campaigns
Making the way someone campaigns an issue in a campaign has never really been effective. They are both going to attack each other and it's fine.

He ran unbelievably sleazy campaigns, but I would still put Lee Atwater on the Mt Rushmore of political consultants. I think it's all fair.

2. But I'm not sure the Kerry campaign agrees with you?

3. I say open up on him.
Everything we've discussed about Bush for the past 3.5 years is perfectly legitmate material to attack Bush on.

If the public knew half of what we knew Kerry would win with 90% of the popular vote.

4. Yo, Kentuck--
My strong presumption is that the Kerry people have a whole bunch of contingency plans already in place & are playing about 6 steps ahead of Rove. Last night they were building boxes around the Bushes, and they already know what they will do when (not if) Shrubco goes negative. They're loaded for bear--uh, chimps.

5. Come on
Why bother. They can point to acceptance speech that had digs in it as well.

Let them scrum!

6. Didn't the Democrats jump all over Dean when he tried this while
running for the nominaiton? Something about "if you can't stand the heat, how can you stand being president".

I would be nice if someone in the Democratic party was able to smash every word of Bush's very loudly and very expertly. These clowns are criminals. Why aren't people screaming about everything they've done? Where are the impeachment cries???
