"Europe has collapsed on itself."
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 06:12 PM by Bleachers7
Terry Holt (spell check) just said that Europe is collapsing on itself. He is a Bush campaign tool that was on Hardball. What the fuck is he talking about?

36. Not "seem to be" but ARE
The EU is working to organize its armed forces right now.

You know, it takes a lot of gall for Bush to try to undermine the EU, as well as the UN and NATO, especially as the young EU struggles to define itself in an effort to prevent another WW. It should be an even greater insult to every American that Bush spurns these organizations' efforts to maintain the peace on the 60th anniversary of D-Day, when the US lost over 300,000 troops in an effort to end the four year Nazi occupation of France.

27. But don't forget, Cuba BAAAAD, they are a much different
kind of communist country.

They provide health care and schools, even for their prostitutes.
But they don't require children to work in sweat shops for $.50/hour
to produce goods for the US, so they must be a very BAD communist
country.

The EU is closer than it ever has been to creating a united European continent. Same tax laws, labor standards, and so on.

Hell, English troops marched in the last Bastille Day parade to commemorate 100 years of Anglo-French friendship. A European Army, soon...?

The Euro is going up against the dollar and every OPEC country in the world is considering changing over to euros. They sound desperate to me. If they can just get the world to buy gold in euros they will be totally screwed.

21. UK Has Threatened To Give Billion $ Defense Contracts To Europeans
there's a billion dollars or so of UK $ about to be spent on unmanned drones.

US builders might not get that contract- cause US won't give UK contractors more jobs in Iraq.

22. Actually collapsed of the #1 Coalition of the Willing...
Little bush and rumbutt backed off from military contracts promised to Europe. Contracts were awarded again to American companies. Europe will now cancel contracts US military contractors have, contracts which are of utmost importance to the US military. I heard this on CNN this morning. They reported coalition of th willing #1 supporter, UK, on the brink of collapsing.

29. The plug has been pulled on the Mediterranean,
and all the European countries are being scrunched together as they are sucked down the drain, starting with Malta and Cyprus. Ooops! There go Sicily and Crete! Can Italy and Greece be far behind?
I guess they'll have to find a new venue for the Olympics after all.

30. Chunks are falling off the Alps because of global warming
Of course the only link I can find is from Whitley Streiber, but I know I've seen it somewhere more plausible as well:

Scientists think global warming will melt the Alps over the next twenty years, causing the mountains to collapse into piles of rubble. The mountain range is made up of rocks, with an icy crust of permafrost holding them together. This ice is melting fast, and the rocks are falling in great avalanches, making climbing dangerous. One avalanche killed 50 people 4 years ago.

31. Oh, believe it
Many classic climbs in the Alps were closed last year due to unprecedented rock and ice fall. They may not become total piles of rubble, but the current shape could easily change. And measurements show it is a real effect:

35. Parroting Kilroy-Silk?
The best explanation I can think of is that he is trying to old lie put about by Robert Kilroy Silk of the UKIP that the EU faces collapse due to Multi-culturalism and immigration. I'll post the link so you can see something of this nasty little argument.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3688081.stm

Ex-BBC chat show host Robert Kilroy-Silk has said Britain needs to pull out of the EU before it disintegrates.

He quit his daily chat show in January after making comments in a newspaper describing Arabs as "limb amputators".

I want to be governed by my own people," he said, backing UKIP's calls for Britain to withdraw from the EU.

He continued: "It is only a question of we come out now in a civilised way or whether it actually disintegrates because of the pressures."
