What about a token of appreciation for Janeane?
Although my schedule hasn't permitted me to watch Crossfire this week, by all accounts Janeane Garofalo has done a spectacular job as co-host.

She even has reached out through a couple of DUers to make sure our thoughts and concerns were addressed. I know flowers have been presented to other favorites, like Sen. Byrd. I certainly think Janeane is worthy of the same type of recognition.

First, does anyone else think this is a worthwhile idea. Second, how do we go about making it happen?

2. That's a great idea and I'd like to...Wait...Why buy a bunch of flowers?
If 100 people spend $30 on a dozen roses that will wilt...Why not something more permenant?

Ie.~ Time for the creative gift givers to do their thing;-)

3. Try and PM CaptainMidnight..
I think he is the one in contact with Janeane. I think that is a great idea, we need to let her know she has a lot of support behind her. She is a very brave soul to put herself out there like this.

I would be glad to contribute.

4. Emails to CNN with compliments for Jeanene
What better gift than letting CNN know that people were watching Crossfire to see Janean! She has been great, especially today.

Maybe she should be put into the regular rotation!!

7. That's a great start
Here's the link:
http://www.cnn.com/feedback/

Scroll down to the bottom right column that says "Comment on our Shows," and Crossfire is at the midpoint. It will take you to the appropriate feedback form.

I still would like to do something more. I'm at work now, though, and won't be able to get back to this for a couple of hours.

Please help keep this kicked and I'll PM Captain Midnight later if he doesn't chime in on this thread.

Thanks!

10. good idea
I agree with the person who said we should let CNN know we watched because she was on and that she was great.

There was an interview with her (maybe in the W Post?) in which she described what she did when she was in Washington (usually went places on her own rather than with other people). Maybe someone could find that, and see what she likes to do and then we could get a gift idea that would be relevant to her likes.

13. I ** REALLY ** Think She Deserves.....
Edited on Thu Aug-21-03 10:19 PM by JasonBerry
something! And, furthermore, I think it would be highly inappropriate to do anything but a big night on the town! Now, of course, Janeane would need an escort from DU. Oh! Have I mentioned how bored I have been lately? Need to get out of the house? Do something? Have fun??? You know? An evening on the town with Janeane? Priceless. I'm not hinting or anything!!!!

Nahhhhh.

15. As wonderful as a date with you or KG would be
I was kind of aiming for something we could do as a community. ;-)

I hope people have submitted their comments to CNN at the above link. I like the idea of making a donation to DU in her name and getting her a gold star so she can post and search here any time she would want.

I think something else more tangible for her to keep would be good. I agree with JanMichael that flowers simply die. I'm thinking something whimsical, creative and different. Anybody else have any ideas?

BTW, does anyone already have a PayPal account set up?

16. DU Gift Basket
We could stuff it with T-Shirts, Coffee Mugs (some good coffee not starbucks), some biscotties, bumper sticker, a couple of cute cartoons about Jr to make her laugh, maybe one of those travel coffee/tea mugs that you make a cup of tea or coffee in when your on the road, etc.

Let's make the girl a nice Gift Basket.

I use to own a Basket Business and I love making them.
