NEW YORK - Based on television ratings, Americans were more interested in what John Kerry (news - web sites) had to say in his nomination acceptance speech than they were for Al Gore (news - web sites) in 2000.

An estimated 24.4 million viewers watched Kerry's speech on the six biggest networks Thursday night, compared to 21.1 million people who saw Gore four years earlier, Nielsen Media Research reported on Friday.

than one hour. I personally never watched the so-called big 6; I am disgusted that they couldn't be patriotic enough to show more than an hour. The greed in the US is beginning to make me sick.

Excellent convention with perfect timing within their allotted hour. Kerry was dynamite and defied all expectations with his brilliant speech.
