Today, I'm working at a machine where the only station I can get is Limpballs. Needing a political fix, I listen in. He starts going into the Alexandra Kerry and her hamster story and is laughing and making fun of it, and her, and sops who lap up that kind of stuff... you know... like Liberals.

At first I was totally appalled and taken aback, but soon I found myself smiling with the realization that he\they are scared. They are shaken, and desperate enough to go after the kids, and the families' humanity at the drop of a hat.

I hope all the right-wing motherfuckers are sweatin bullets right now!!!

when I heard the story - all I could think is that our current pres would probably only sit on the side of the boat laughing and making up the nicknames that came later in the story (that the hamster lived, but was never quite the same again.) Given his public comments about his daughters (snide joking tone when he says that he has been to war {he hasn't} and raised twins - and that he preferred war...) - can't even imagine that he would have enough empathy to realize how scary and terrifying the moment would seem to children and to go to great lengths to try to save the pet. Just can't see Bush in that role... which is why the story was so damn effective. (and why rush zeroed in on it - he had to try to defuse the power of the story.)

The Republicans attack Kerry and his record yet offer no comparison. Why? 'Cause they had control of the WH and THEY had control of Congress, and did jacksh*t for the past four years. And the spinmeisters know this...

Gee, Rush...why don't you celebrate Bush's economy on your show? Because revenues are down by almost 70% thanks to his tax cuts for the rich and large corporations. And he mislead us about how big the deficit will be...and it's gonna be the largest deficit in history. It was also the first time in history that one party had control of the White House AND Congress and could NOT come up with a budget. They had FOUR YEARS!

Gee, Rush...why don't you regale us with stories about how safe Bush has made us? Because September 11th happened on HIS watch, the security community is generally horrified how he handled it then and since, and point out that NOTHING has changed since 9/11. And it only took 3 years and a multitude of cover ups to get THIS far. And I bet it also because he vastly underfunded police and firefighters, our nations first responders..who are voting for Kerry.

Gee, Rush...why don't you pleasure yourself while mentioning how wonderful Bush's foreign policy has been? Because our "foreign policy" is an $87 billion quagmire in Iraq, run by 20-somethings handpicked by the Heritage Foundation. Our arrogance, unilateral shoot first/ask questions later attitude, and our deception has led to us no longer being either a leader on the world stage nor respected.

Gee, Rush...why don't you wrap yourself in the flag and sing a song about Bush's skills as Commander in Chief. Is it because the military has to buy their own bullet-proof vests? It is because Bush cut their pay and benefits? Is it because he cut aid and services to military families? Or perhaps it's because many top military leaders are opposed to how he is using the military and have jumped on Kerry's bandwagon. Or just maybe it's because while John Kerry was serving his country in Vietnam, Bush was drinking beer and smoking pot at daddy's summer house while asking the girls if they liked his pilot hat.

So they have to resort to baiting Teresa Heinz Kerry, making fun of family stories, and ambiguously attacking John Kerry and his record. Because they have NOTHING to offer. And the mainstream press likes it because it makes good snippets, it's safe, and it's the only thing their management is going to let them show anyway.

Well guess what? MORE than half the country voted for the Democratic nominee for President in the last election and we want our "more than half" back. And I, for one, am just not gonna take it anymore.

I loved it. And think about it..remember all that blather about how THK was supposed to "humanize" Kerry in her speech. Introduce him to us in a way that would make us want to sit down and swill some beer with him? There were complaints that she talked about his energy policy instead. I kind of suspect that talking about issues is common in their household. It is in ours and we aren't in government. However, I can't think of anything more "humanizing" than the hampster story.
