I hear many Democrats from Mass. say the only time they voted Republican was when they vote for Bill Weld over John Silber for governor. Weld was a rather socially liberal very moderate Republican, while Silber was apparentely much more conservative about him.
So explain more about Silber? What were the guy's stances? Was he a real Zell Miller or what?

1. He made some huge gaffes on TV.... |
|
and then it went downhill from there. He didn't have a very pleasing personality...not even very friendly walking around on the BU campus. I recall seeing him on campus several times, and he seemed to be in his own little world.

2. before I decided to become a full-time Democrat... |

I thought Weld was one of the good Republicans. I really don't remember a lot about him, but I seem to remember that he was pretty libertarian (lower-case, good sense).
(At first I sort of read "Silber" as "Silver" and thought you were speaking of the neo-con actor who used to be cool.)

4. I do not think CEO people transfer to govt. jobs well |
|
CEO is top down rule and govt. is from the bottom up. You can see it now where we have all these CEO's trying to run the govt. as a business and it is not the same thing at all. I do not see why they do not see it, Just as Rush, if he could run his radio program with the door-man and cleaning women telling him what to do, No, but govt. is run with those people having their say. The College President was a top man guy.

5. I knew that Weld was running against Kerry for the Senate in |

Massachusetts. But I know a lot more about Silber. As the President of Boston U, he carried water for Henry Kissinger. He whitewashed the Iran Contra scandal for the Reagan administration and tried to take on Noam Chomsky. As one can guess, he lost that battle badly and retreated before his rightwing star dimmed. He is a man given to violent outbursts and intemperate statements about his opponents.
All in all, Silber is a rightwing turd.
