Concerned that Candy Crowley is on the campaign trail with Kerry/Edwards -
Candy was travelling with Kerry/Edwards yesterday as they started our campaign, and reported the day for CNN. Does anyone know how to find out if she is permanently assigned by CNN to the Kerry campaign? Who makes these assignments? She was hellbent on Al Gore's destruction in 2000, and here she is, four years later, covering our candidates.

It really concerns me that our campaign will be interpreted to CNN's viewers through Candy's snide, hateful and biased eyes. She has already given us the hour-long Kerry hitpiece, "Born to Run," which CNN has aired several times, and repeats, I believe, today. Is there anything that can be done, aside from our personal protests to CNN?

(Please email and/or call CNN, 404-827-0234.)

1. i don't like it but Kerry campaign often lets in whores
Kerry always gives interviews to maureen dowd despite her whorish and many times viscious attacks on him and his wife and other democrats personally.

17. I'll say this in Maureen's defense
A considerable number of her remarks about Theresa Heinz Kerry, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton were and are IMHO insignificant and trivial. But at least she's also savaged Bush on countless occasions and torn his domestic and foreign policy agenda to shreds in countless articles. So she has some sort of balance. Candy Crowley and all the other media whores just blindly echo Bush's mantra and never stop to evaluate the failures or shortcomings of the policies or people involved in the * mis-Administration

22. I have a suspicion that Imus is going to totally stab Kerry in the back
Kerry has gone on his show for years and creepy Imus always pretended to like Kerry, but not the other Democrats. Now he has been claiming this year to support him, but the other creeps love Bush, so I heard they have dopy arguments about it. I bet Imus will find some excuse to support Bush right before the election.

2. I believe she has this assignment at least until the election in Nov.
IF you remember, each of the candidates has a CNN reporter assigned to accompany them on the Campaiagn trail. I don't know who at CNN makes these assignments or what criteria they use to make their choice. I am sure each of them HOPED the candidate they were following was the final Party nominee. After all, they keeps their face on screen too!

I don't think Candy is so bad. I suspect a big part of her job is NOT to appear to be one of the Candidate's promoters! That of course is not what a "reporter" is supposed to do.

5. I do agree that a reporter is supposed to appear neutral
But from what it sounds like to me, Candy couldn't hide her pro-Shrub biases if she had a bank safe the size of the Grand Canyon in which to store them. Personally, I would prefer that she-and the rest of the librul media-whore neither for Shrub or Kerry, but provide an honest, TRULY "fair and balanced" approach.

4. One way to look at Candy Crowley being on the trail with the K/E team is
Edited on Sat Jul-31-04 07:54 AM by flordehinojos
that the world knows by now what Candy's political leanings are. She also traveled with the Dole/Kemp team when they were running against Bill Clinton in 1996. She always presented the D/K team as near perfect gods while always looking for a way to dig the Clinton/Gore team.

In other words the world knows by now that Candy Crowley is the biased enemy and, it may be ready to tune her out the minute she starts talking. A new face may not enjoy that benefit as people may be more willing to want to listen to what the new face might be saying.

And by the way, aren't Candy Crowley and Judy Woodruff just the opposite ends of an EATING DISORDER?

One seems to suffer from ANOREXIA, the other from OVEREATING.

}(

Oh, and by the way, there may be a chance, albeit a remote possibility that Candy may learn something from TERESA HEINZ KERRY. I think Teresa Heinz has a spirit that touches many and it may yet touch Candy's soul.

Prior to that she was assigned to follow the Dem primary candidates during debates. She along with that one reporter,( 58 ish brown hair , very bad teeth, his name slips me ) made sure they did everything they could to help real Dems pick the candidate the reukes wanted...if you get my drift!

She was assigned that postion from the very top brass, we are talking CEO level no doubt!

18. it's really sick
Crowley was HORRIBLE covering Gore in 2000 - during her segments, she'd grit her teeth, roll her eyes, grimace, sneer - and those were only her facial expressions. Her venom was obvious in her snide commentary.

However, when covering Bush*, so'd go all reverent and whisper like she was in a cathedral. Her face beamed, she *smiled* (something she never did when covering Gore) and she heaped praise on a complete idiot who was less qualified for the job than John Edwards.

You KNOW Crowley will do the exact same hit on Kerry this year. If anyone is going to a Kerry rally, bring a "CROWLEY GOP BIAS" sign or such and be sure to wave it behind her while she's live. She isn't hard to miss, so it should be easy. DOG HER EVERY STOP ON THE CAMPAIGN. MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR HER TO REPORT.

I know it sounds desperate, but these are desperate times and Crowley is the WORST of the WORST.

23. yep
The more people we have behind her, the better - make it a real mob scene with CNN and Crowley signs.

We need to organize to do that, though. Maybe we need a kicked Crowley thread with a list of campaign appearances to keep count of how many would participate and where they could meet.

I say SWARM her every time she's on-air. This is the ONLY way to make our voices heard, since CNN ignores our complaints (and I've complained to them constantly about her being assigned to Democrats, when she so obviously loathes them).

The Kerry campaign won't let you take homemade signs into a rally, but fortunately for us, at outdoor rallies (which will be the majority for the rest of the campaign) Crowley sets up on the outskirts of the event. So, if we have a drop-off point for our CNN signs nearby, we can meet after the rally and then hover nearby when Crowley is preparing to go on-air.

The second the light goes on, we swarm behind her with our "CROWLEY - REPUBLICAN SHILL" signs and our chant. Drown her out.

I'll bet that if we dogged her three, maybe four events in a row they'd see the impossibility of keeping her on the Kerry campaign. Then again, she's almost worse covering Bush, but that's okay. We can dog her at Bush events :)

19. Candy Crowley's spectacular view of the inauguration

CROWLEY: While up there I had the opportunity to speak to a number of people named to Bush's Cabinet. They feel this next week is extremely important for George Bush to show that he is on the move, that there is no time to waste acclimating oneself or sort of easing in. They feel they need to hit the ground running, and in fact they would hold their first staff meeting Sunday.

30. IMHO email CNN the following article it says it all and pulls no
punches. American mediawhores maybe patting each other on the back but foreign media is not buying into their games.

Patriot game, media shame
LAWRENCE MARTIN
Globe & Mail

"In his speech at the Democratic convention, Jimmy Carter noted how the Bush administration had willfully generated public panic over terrorism. Statistics show that, last year, acts of terrorism killed 300 to 400 people, ranking it so far down the list of dangers to livelihood that it is barely visible.

The threat of terrorism certainly shouldn't be minimized; but it also shouldn't be exaggerated by a cowed media to fit the White House agenda. For anyone who looks at some of history's worst threats -- the German military machine that killed tens of millions, the Soviet Union with a nuclear arsenal that could have turned this continent into rubble -- the terrorism of today, though George Bush has seeded so much more of it in Iraq, isn't anywhere close.

As journalists have been duped so often, admittedly duped, how can anyone say the media system in America is working?

In times of foreign crises, the press doesn't report. It is politically exploited. It is supposed to reflect truth and reality but, by treating politically motivated White House words with face-value reverence, it is distorting that truth and reality and succumbing to patriot games.

"At the Democratic convention this week and the coming Republican fest, rest assured of one thing: No one will mention a crux issue -- how patriotism supplanted journalism in America."

FYI the Globe & Mail is the equivalent to the Washington Post in that it is the Establishment newspaper.

said that what's her face was on the campaign trail with them and reporting from the bus and was on the plane into Boston with them, etc. Is she Kelly O'Donnel or do I have the name wrong---she's blonde, used to cover Bush for awhile, and has that permanent zit thing on her chin (sorry, but I didn't know how to describe her). She was very upbeat and kind of pooping on any republican critics. She would probably get the assignment of covering the new president if he's elected. I think Crowley is just put out here and there for hit pieces. By the way, what was with that animal Campbell Brown. She was like someone with really bad PMS. She literally attacked the Dems she was interviewing on the floor and calling them liars, etc. Then she had this ugly, ugly look on her face that I think scared the cameraman!!---it was like she had an axe to grind with her network for making her do the job and thought she should have a higher job. On edit: I don't think I have the right name--does anyone know who I'm talking about???

I believe it's Kelly Wallace that is assigned to this campaign. Of course when Kerry and Edwards split up, I don't know who would be doing what but think Wallace would be with Kerry since she was on the plane to Boston, etc. and has covered Bush before at the White House.

Link to a GREAT article from CJR's "Campaign Desk" - "SPIN BUSTER." It follows a WHOLE LOT of CNN sins, by anchor and quote, during the convention, to show, repeatedly, how f-ing BIASED they are toward the republi-CONS, and against Kerry/Edwards.

Rat her out to CJR. Maybe they'll do an article on her coverage, alone.

41. I've already slammed CNN about Crowley
This is my recent farewell speech to CNN........

Goodbye, CNN......

There was a time when you reported the news according to basic journalistic principles....."Just the facts, ma'am. Just the facts."

Now, however, your newscasters intentionally shade and shape their semantics towards a right-wing bias that smacks of organized Conservative propaganda. Blitzer, Woodruff and Crowley are the most blatant, egregious and obnoxious examples of this practice.

That you allow the White House to influence your reporting (ala the Letterman fiasco) is simply unprofessional, unamerican and unacceptable.

My days of enduring skewed and distorted news are over! I can no longer - in good conscience - support you as a viewer and am changing the channel to the news agencies that still maintain honesty, integrity and non-bias in their reporting.

Goodbye, CNN. Goodbye!
