What a Smug Little @%#&* on C-SPAN |

Regarding Dick Cheney's energy task force to caller:
"The Supreme Court just addressed this and I guess that's where it's going to stand... too bad, it's partisan politics and it's nasty. You don't have the right to know everything."

I was just thinking the same thing. How does this woman sleep at night? Hope the BMW was worth your soul, honey.

6. Most of the govt is run in secret, if you think about it |
|
The intelligence community has kept most of us---including Congress and even some presidents--in the dark about all their significant activities including:
the Manhattan Project (not a single member of Congress knew about it, even tho it cost $2 billion at the time. That means the funding came from other sources)
our development of biological weapons
importing Nazi scientists to work in the US (Project Paperclip)
terminal and mind-control experiments
nationwide interception of mail and cable transmissions (during the 50s, photographing 2 million envelopes and opening 250,000 letters between US citizens and communist countries----not even the president was exempt)
infiltrating the media and universities
secret coups
secret wars
assassinations
How can all this go on with very few---or sometimes, with NO---of our elected reps knowing about it?
We THINK we live in a free society, but...in reality it's an empire and oligarchy, vaguely aware of its own oppression, inside and out.

It reminds me of a scene in the movie version of Farenheit 451, in which a brain dead young woman sits and pets the fur on her coat like it is a kitten. What a lovely example of "sheeple" mentality. Why should I care what Shrub does? I want to go to Ethan Allen and get that new dining room suite. I don't have time to listen to Kerry....the TV said he is ill-defined and I have to get my SUV detailed. I just think that Anne Coulter is so hot. How do you like my new skirt? They were on sale at the Gap!
I am not saying I am free of materialistic drive. But there are more important things in life. Like freedom. And honesty from one's government.

14. Some Cases It's Good NOT To Know |
|
Yes, you're right. That task force was on our dime and the minutes of that meeting and who attended should be public record. But this might not be a bad thing we don't know. Since this regime is covering this thing up so deep and tight, one can easy infer that this is being done because there were either illegal or unethical activities going on. We just don't know. And we won't know, the Supreme Court made sure of that.
I beleive there are times where government secrecy is important and we don't live in a totally open society. The freedom to speak also protects the freedom to be silent as well...even if it's on the country's dime if it's judged to be an issue of national security.
Think if we had learned that this task force was nothing more than a golf outting and nothing was done, or the actions of the task force was on the straight and narrow and through came out facts that didn't shine very nicely on the past administration.
This is one of the stupidest things this regime does. They fight any charges, no matter what it is...no fight too big or small and waste a lot of time, energy and money in covering up more than the actions we want to learn about or need to know. Their blinders are on fully right now and our job is to find how to lead this dead horse to a glue factory.

Laura Ingraham (sp?), Ann Coulter, Barbara Olson, Kelly Conway......they all had a hand in the 8 year drive to remove Clinton from office. THAT'S where she's coming from. She's evil.
