Let's Hear From The Mythical 4% of Gore Voters That'll Vote for Bush
In some recent poll, Zogby I believe, I saw where they had 8% of former Bush voters going for Kerry, and 4% of former Gore voters voting for Bush. Why hasn't the media found any of these people? Is there any anecdotal evidence of this, or is it a margin of error thing- more likely closer to 0%. Please step forward if you are in this group.

1. I do know of some people who voted for Gore but are now for bush.
I'm surprised that Zogby had the number at 4%, but there are some people who really believe that September 11th changed everything and that bush is the man who will keep them safe.

One of my sister's neighbors falls into this category. In 2000 she told my sister she was a "one-issue voter" - abortion rights and that's why she was voting for Gore. She's been solidly bush since 9-11. Her husband is a long-time puke, but their 18 year-old daughter is a bleeding-heart liberal (bless her heart :-)). My sister has been working on this woman since she realized she switched to bush, but hasn't made any progress.

I know of a handful of other people (through relatives) -- mostly senior citizens -- who believe bush is the man to keep them safe.

15. I don't know of a single person who fits in this category
there may have been a few who felt this way in the days/weeks after 9-11; but that view has LONG since dissapated.

18. Have her explain how Bush will keep her safe when 9/11 happened
while he was President. Will we be safer because the "terrorists" fear Bush? Like Bush? What? Give me the reason. He hasn't kept any of the 910 dead US military safe or the thousands that were wounded. The only reason there has been no other attack in the US is that the terrorists haven't tried one yet. Remember how long it was between the first WTC bombing and 9/11. Shouldn't we say that after the first WTC bombing that Bill Clinton kept us safe from terrorists at home? OK, explain why not.

3. They are the ones that have started paying more attention
to the news media after 911. Haven't figured out yet that media is in on it.

4. You'd Think The Pro Bush Media Would Be Trotting These People Out
As desperate as the media is to portray Bush in a positive light, I'm surprised CNN has done a special about this that they repeat endlessly ala "Flyboy"

5. 2-1 margin favoring dems
considering Gore won the popular vote in 2000 this is good news. Any new voters by and large I think will be democratic. And how many Nader voters will go for Bush? zero. How many will go for Kerry? I predict at least 50-60% if not more.

6. My experience suggests Zogby is about right.
There are several people I've talked to who believe 9/11 was a major turning point in US history and that Bush* has "proven" he can protect us. They say they voted for Gore, but will vote Bush* this time.

I don't know if they were being honest about their Gore vote, but that's what they say. I always tell them to go see F911 and watch when Bush* is told the US is under attack. If they still think he's a strong leader and on top of things, they see something I cannot.

7. I have heard a few on c-span over the last 6 months or so.
I have no way of knowing if they are really lying Pubs or being honest, but their reasons all seem to be the same...he did such a great job after 9/11, he'll keep me safe.

I wonder if that's the answer to "What would happen if there was another attack before the election?" I continue to say it could go either way, but if enough people actually believe the shrub can keep us safe and he doesn't, that could drive the election to Kerry.

8. Actually, you don't know how good this is
It was only about 9 months ago that polls showed something like 20% of Dems were favoring Bush. And before that, close after 9/11 it was much greater!! I used to get sick and furious reading that number and remember that as that crept lower and lower over the months I was so relieved that Dems were waking up and coming to their senses. I have a feeling (though don't have any evidence) that a lot of those were male dems who got all wound up in the 'war' thing. If it's down to 4% then we have made tremendous strides. Back then, it was like only 10% or so of the Repubs who were not backing Bush. If they have only convinced 2% in that time, it shows they are spending a lot of money and not reaching that many people.

9. Thanks For The Perspective
Some people are slow to change. It's hard to imagine anyone voting for Bush, but that's the world we live in.

11. On Doug Stephan's weekend show
he took a call from a young man who claimed to be a former Deaniac who's all pissed off at the Democrats, so he's voting for Bush. Even though I was half-asleep at the time, I yelled "B--- S---!"

I met many Deaniacs at the Texas Democratic Convention, & I must say that they are (a) enthusiastic, which is contagious :) and (b) rabidly anti-Bush.

So I too am wondering who that 4% is & if they really exist....

12. The margin of error was 4%
And Zogby was simply accounting for Zell Miller.

13. I know one
why she voted for Gore in the first place is beyond me, she's a RW loonie in my church. (which is a pretty liberal church)

Well, "loonie" is too strong. But she's NOT real bright to put it mildly.
