With all the talk about hero's lately...recent hero's to me are the
people who spoke up against the invasion of Iraq... on street corners and protests in this country....I was with them in spirit...but didn't have the courage in my rethuglican area to do that....so.... to all those courageous people....thank you!

1. hey, you should go. Instead of feeling out of place, you will
feel very much in the right place, and feel a bond with others there.
Hubby and I have marched against the war in Washington, D.C. And as I walked, I felt proud to be excercising my right to literally stand up for what I believe in, and to be a voice for what is right, and to walk past the handful of hatemongers on the corner who derided us (as we protected THEIR right to free speech, too....Free Speech is the muscle of this country; use it, or lose it.)

The more people who stand on the streets, the more people who will stop and think about issues. It inevitably forces people to not completely ignore facts about issues. It coerces them into forming opinions themselves. Demonstrations massage democratic processes.

Just do it! It feels GOOD!
When we were in local protests, it felt even better, in our very rethuglican community of York, Pa, to be in the midst of comrades and know we are all working together, to know we aren't alone, and to keep up the spirit to keep fighting for what is right for our generation and for those to come.

3. PS. None of us are heroes. We are just fulfilling our
obligations, our civic duty, to participate, to speak, to keep the conversations and hope alive.

2. You are so right...and so were they.
Thanks to all of you who marched and protested.

4. And a tip of the hat to the Senators and Reps who voted against it.
At no small risk to themselves. Despite the whines of the "moderates" who claimed it was political suicide, one of my senators (who is running for reelection this year) and my rep, are both expected to win comfortably.
