Kerry Mocks Chimp Slogan about "turning the corner"
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=615&ncid=696&e=1&u=/nm/20040731/pl_nm/campaign_kerry_dc

On the second day of a 22-state, 43-city tour that will take him and running mate John Edwards (news - web sites) from coast to coast by bus, train and boat over the next two weeks, Kerry disputed Bush's contention that "we are turning the corner and we're not turning back" on the U.S. economy.

"I think the American people are a heck of a lot smarter than some of these politicians and political consultants think they are," Kerry told more than 8,000 people gathered in a light drizzle outside a railway station in Greensburg, a Republican stronghold in western Pennsylvania.

"They keep telling them, 'just talk in this tiny, little, itsy bitsy sound bite. Be negative, go out there and attack."

(snip)

"The last time we had a president who ran on a slogan of turning the corner was Herbert Hoover, and he ran on the prospect that prosperity was just around the corner," Kerry said. "I don't want to run talking about turning the corner. I'm running to climb the mountain and get to the top."

8. This is Kerry. He has paced himself for 2 years now....
careful not to show all his cards, or all his passion until the opposition thought they had him figured out then BAM! WHIRL! He completely changes pace while they are left spinning.

9. Turn the corner and run right into a brick wall
I, too, would rather climb a mountain, for there we find ourselves closer to heaven, closer to God. We challenge ourselves to reach the top, and in doing so we find perspective.

Climbing mountains is such a great image, I think Kerry will have plenty of theme songs to choose from, eh?

11. You guys are good!
Making right turns all the time puts you right back where you started.

And, how can you turn a corner if you are staying the course?

I love it!

12. Bush went around the bend awhile ago...
Edited on Sat Jul-31-04 03:49 PM by Raven
he's cut corners on the truth and support to our troops. "Around the corner" is a gift to the Dems.

14. "Around the bend" - Hilarious
That and their new mantra - "Results matter."

Stupendous talking points for the Republicans. How much are they paying Rove again? Wait. Maybe W wants to lose.
