Talk to everyone
Edited on Sat Jul-31-04 03:18 PM by BensMom
My 20 minute drive home from work last night took 2 hours.

The woman at the gas station asked why I looked so happy - and I had to tell her I had been watching the convention all week. She held up a copy of USAToday she had behind the counter and was reading about the convention. She has been a life long republican until her employer could no longer afford healthcare for employees. That was 2 weeks before she was diagnosed with diabetes. She now travels 600 miles every 3 months to buy her medication. We talked for some time - she said they were talking to her from the stage at the convention. She wants to help with the campaign.

My next stop was the pet shop for dog food and the women there were talking about Mama T. So high fives all around.

Then I finally get to my neighborhood and the grandma and grandpa a couple doors down were in their yard. I waved and strolled down for the standard chat and to admire their rose bushes. Ole Grampa took down his flag and gave me a wink and says "I didn't fight in WWII so Bush and his cronies can ruin this country..."

Then I get back to the house and do a quick roll call. DD gets a quick kiss and is off to babysit for the new neighbors. I don't know them very well yet - but they were off on a night out on the town to see F9/11.

DH makes it home and is grinning from ear to ear with something hidden behind his back. WHoo Hoo - He bought me a copy Of 9/11 The Commision Report.

Moral: Talk to everyone and keep the momentum going!

1. Way to go!
I've found a lot of people are ready to talk if you give them an opening and don't start out by criticizing people who voted for Bush last time.

From there I can always find something (usually learned on DU) that they didn't know about the Bush Administration.
