Poll question: How many new voters will you register before October 2?
There are 63 days until the last day to register new voters. I am making it my personal goal to register at least 63 new voters in that time. What is your goal?

1. I'm very lucky.
Part of my full-time job is to help get people registered to vote.

3. Registration is one thing, showing up is another

Seventy to ninety percent of the voting age population registered in 2000 in most states.

Typically, only about 60% of register voters showed up in 2000.

This year it is really about turnout.

4. That's why it is important to follow up with GOTV efforts.
which, BTW, is a lot of fun. It is empowering and exciting to be so actively a part of the democratic process.

5. working on several people right now
my girlfriend is tops on the list. She's never voted before and doesn't pay attention to politics. She's diabetic, so I've been working on her from the stem cell angle. It's starting to pay off, plus I'm so political every time president Stupid comes on the TV that some of it has to be influencing her.
