So, I'm driving through the streets of Cincinnati...
... and came across a "Kerry/Edwards" sticker on a late-model car.

I got behind the guy, and honked, flashing him a thumbs-up!

He immediately turned around in his seat, and started giving me the finger, and other assorted negative hand-signals.

At a traffic light, I pulled up next to him, rolled down the window, gave another thumbs-up, and shouted "NO!! We're on the same side! Go Kerry!!!"

He and his kid, sitting in the passenger seat, started laughing, made sheepish faces, and the child shouted "GO KERRY!"

Isn't it funny... their immediate reaction to my honking was to give me the finger. It's probably what they're used to. :-(

Maybe next time, I should flash a peace sign?

2. Great Stuff, Jen
I saw a car in suburban Chicago today and was ready to give the one finger salute as well until I got closer.

From a distance the bumper sticker says "Preserve America" in big letters...then right below, when one gets right on the bumper, it said "...Replace Bush & Chenney, Now!". I honked and gave the thumbs up...something I always do when I see someone with a Kerry sticker.

Actually I like the peace sign idea...the thumbs up easily could be taken as a different digit.

4. Hey baby, you see a green pickup with a Vet For Kerry sticker..
I won't flip you the bird. Just honk and wave and I'll wave right back. Of course I'm 500 miles away so it is unlikely you will be seeing my truck. :smoke:

5. My cute little blue Acura Integra now sports a Kerry/Edwards sticker.
I get the finger too, of course.

My immediate reaction is to start blowing kisses. That's what really freaks them out... the look on faces is worth it, trust me. :smoke:

7. Blow kisses, flash peace signs. It always works...
... and throws them off-guard.

They're looking for animosity and hatred, and I'm not gonna give it to 'em. :D

8. That's a great idea.
Like the peace protesters in the 1960s putting flowers in the barrels of the guns aimed at them.

10. You likely know more about The 'Nati then you ever wanted to, ZW!
:D

It's a conservative town, but not so much as is touted.

There is resistance, and intelligence. It's out there. I swear. :D

12. It's hard to be a Democrat and not be defensive these days
Good for you for setting the record straight and letting them know you were applauding them, not insulting them. They probably have had some negative feedback in the past.

13. I was admiring a car the other day ...a new VW I hadn't seen before...
I was a few cars back so couldn't see the name of the car, but could make out a small but very readable red, white and blue bumpersticker that said "BUSH" and then some word under his name. I felt so disgusted I didn't care anymore what KIND of car that sticker was on.
But as I got closer I had a big laugh....the smaller word under "BUSH" that I hadn't been able to read from afar said 'SATAN'.

LOL!

14. The misunderstandings are actually pretty funny!
I was in DC at the beginning of the month, and had a nice afternoon off, walking around Dupont Circle.

There's a lovely park there, and I ate a sandwich while enjoying the street crowd.

After snarfing the sandwich, I walked around the park, with its large crowds, and came across a couple walking their adorable dog. They were both men, and one was wearing what appeared to be a traditional-logo Bush/Cheney 2004 shirt.

While I was petting their dog, I looked up at him with a shocked look on my face. I then realized the shirt read Bush/ORWELL 2004. I started laughing, and then he and his partner started laughing. "Scared you, didn't I?" he laughed. :D :D :D

I used to work there. It was great. I also used to live above the Castro in S.F. Too bad I'm straight, eh?

17. I've been fooled a few times
First you see the familiar white block letters "BUSH." The ol' blood pressure spikes. You start thinking about flipping them off. Then you pull closer. The "BUSH" is followed by "CHEATED" OR "on Mars" or "ORWELL 1984." Ahhhh. All is well with the world, again.
