A Response to Those Who Question Kerry's Purple Heart |
|
Just because Kerry was able to fight after he was wounded in combat does not mean the wounds were not serious. While reading one of the other post about Kerry's purple heart I remembered something I learned when I was in Army ROTC. I used to ride with one of the senior cadets and on one occasion when he was bringing me back to my campus he told me the story of one of our instructors. This instructor fought in Gulf War I. One day while in Iraq this officer was wounded in the head with sharpnel. The officer, who at the time was an Army Ranger, had the sharpnel removed and then went back to the battlefield either that very day or in the next few days. The officer stayed off the battlefield no more than three days. I am quit certain he actually went back into battle that day. I think there could be some type of macho feeling, or just a sense of duty that would explain why some men return to battle so soon after being wounded.

2. " How come they focus on the Purple Hearts"? |

Because Bush doesn't have one & they have no choice but to try to make nonsense out of Kerry's!

3. I would just say "oh, please...." and ask about bush's medals |
|
"what bush has no medals? but how can that be when he is such a hero??"
Or maybe, "there you go again, bashing Kerry. has bush nothing positive to say??"
I think the main thing about the complainers re: kerry's purple heart's is that they will remind people that he actually fought in the war. To question the medals awarded to him by the United States of America is just beyond petty and small-minded.
And I think it's again a good point to bring up GWB's platform for 04: bash Kerry, the party of negativity.

4. This is the most asinine thing for Shrub to focus on, since |
|
his military record is extremely suspect. I can't believe Repubs are still flogging this dead horse.

Kerry fired and took rounds in Vietnam.
Bush bought rounds in the Tesas Air National Guard officers club.
Bottoms up!

you're feeding the problem by saying he took a round. just get in their face about the other medals. please....he wasn't shot and it does no good to pretend he was. we need to stand on the truth of the honor of his service.
don't dishonor his service with a lie.

8. Did shrub even ear a good conduct metal? |

I agree with the above. John Kerry EARNED a silver and bronze star. These are the medals that matter, not so much the purple hearts. These are the ones they just don't give out every day. If they gave them out in a Cracker-Jacks box the dim son would have a chest full of them.
