This is one of the latest justifications or defenses for the war. We're drawing the terrorists to Iraq and bringing them out into the open where we can confront them head on or so the theory goes. So let me get this straight. Thousands of Islamic terrorists are descending upon Iraq where according to this administration there are huge caches of WMD unaccounted for and this is a good thing.

our troops sweat it out in hot tents since the defense contractor who was supposed to build them is having techincal problems (called 'take the money and run'). I'm sure the troops, especially Guardsmen and Reservists, are very happy to know that they are the bait for these terrorists that are being attracted to Iraq. Wonder if the troops were given any training in how to operate in a guerilla/terror war? If they weren't maybe that's why the Pentagon tried to cut their hazardous duty pay.

5. This theory seems to apply equally well to the terrorist groups. |

American troops have been drawn into Iraq where the terrorist groups can kill them with depressing regularity for years to come.

and I would imagine the terrorists being attracted are more the local terrorists, not the international cells that are responsible for attacks on the U.S. I doubt Al Queda has taken its eyes off our mainland and sent all thier cells to Iraq. The terrorists we see there are probably new terrorists or terrorists that would have been in isreal or another middle eastern spot.

this spin from the White House. As he put it, they've got us surrounded and that's a good thing?

OBL attacked on 9/11 knowing that he would draw US troops to a weak spot in the middle east (Iraq). He also knew that after 9/11 he would not be able to attack again on US soil for some time.
Now terrorist organizations have access to US troops, along with home field advantage. The AWOL administration has played right into their hands, and the slippery slope will keep our troops in Iraq (and dieing) for years to come.
The terrorists have won, and they will continue to win, until AWOL is removed from office.
Cheers Drifter

A favorite story told by Marines (whom I deeply respect) is about a Commander who was told that the enemy had closed off the left and right flanks, and was now coming up behind them. In short, they were surrounded and the Commander responded: "Good, the Sons-of-bitches won't get away this time".
That seems to be the mentality of the group running the pentagon. They seem to have forgotten that General Custer trapped his troops in a valley and drew the entire Indian nation to his position. That's the ultimate flypaper theory.
How can anybody take these wackos seriously?
