...but I've always thought that she was really ineffective. It surprises me that many on DU like her. She's DLC through-and-through, no?

she's okay by me most of the time. I have no idea if she is DLC or not. I don't have a problem with members of the DLC, except when they try to run someone like Lieberman...

Complain when a Dem doesn't do the right thing, and complain when they do.

job--she was very effective at getting out the vote in 2000. She is little moderate for my tastes, and the Gore campaign definitely made some mistakes--but I think overall she put in a lot of good work. I have a generally postive opinion of her...

10. She's got the same problem so many Dem surrogates do. |
|
She allows Carlson to talk over her and interrupt her while she is talking, she spends all her time responding to his latest interruption, instead of insisting on being able to make her point, and then when he is talking, she gives him free rein -- no interruptions.

12. i like her, read her autobiography |

i was going to be upset with her work in the gore campaign, but then i found out what i suspected: there were too many consultants in the gore campaign, not enough staff. brazile was a staff worker, and manages them beautifully. she herself doesn't like the dnc politiking and swarming of consultants and analysts.
i think a good rule of thumb is keep your personal advisor pool far smaller than the number of fingers in one hand. once you start getting too many advisors around in one place entropy takes place. some have nothing to do so they begin to ply their trade within to gain the leader's ear. that's the beginning of an in-fighting war. very bad. best to keep brilliant schemers separate, keep them busy.
i recommend her book. an inspiring read and a good lesson on why you should avoid those who want to "gather around in a circle and shoot at each other," and instead pick those who do real work.
