Have you thought about using the word "ditto" to agree with a post
a post, but thought better and didn't? It sucks that the druggie, draft dodging, thrice divorced, blowhard Rush has removed that word from our lexicon.

2. Ditto.
I like that word. It conveys an exact yet comprehensive thought. Sigh.

Litterally--for themselves--I steadfastly REFUSE to make use of it!x(

I have most of the Right Wing propaganda robots on my permanent 'ignore' list.
I highly recommend it.

17. From the early days of Rush Limbaugh becoming popular, his fans
proudly labelled themselves "Dittoheads" and would call the show saying "Megadittoes, Rush".

I have no idea whether they still do this.

On stupidass Hannity show, host and caller greet each other with "You're a great American!" Just for being a wingnut conservative Bush worshipper, eh? That's all it takes to be a "great American." By these standards, Kerry should have the Nobel Prize of being an American.

10. There is no point in replying to a post
if all you have to say is I agree (or ditto.)
It's a waste of energy. IMO

11. I did not think that "ditto" was an
actual word. Though I do know that there is a character in the comic strip "Hi and Lois" name Ditto. :7

I'll check Webster. They have added lots of new words in the last few years.

13. I did it yesterday, dammit!
But, admittedly, it was because I was tired and in a hurry, and had nothing to do with making a political point.

Screw Rush. Just because he only knows twenty words, and as such runs them into the ground, doesn't mean I'm going to alter my linguistic behavior just because of him. If I start blathering idiotic hyperbole about flat taxes or welfare queens or 60's values or any of that right-wing crappo, then I'll worry that I'm sounding like Rush.

16. If we all replied "ditto" to
any inane comment, then there would be no discussion here. Aren't we all here to discuss various topics and share our different viewpoints?

I think we are in the General Discussion Room.

They want ditto (which gets repetitious and boring way too fast)? Let 'em have it.

21. I took that word back from Oxyrush myself
I agree that it's a waste of a post.

However, I got tired of the big idiot owning that word. My girlfriend and I took it back and we use it as a "term of endearmant" when we're on the same page.

It felt weird at first. Wrong.

Now i like it.

I feel like we pried that word from his cold dead hands.

22. It's a very old word
The earliest citation in OED is 1625, in a now obsolete meaning, "In this month" ("I'm going to the DU meetup on the 11th ditto"). It seems to have taken on the meaning of "a copy of something" in the 1700s.

The first OED citation of "ditto" as a verb is from 1837, a Canadian satirist named -- get this -- Thomas Haliburton.
