Why is D.C. so Democratic? |
|
This is just a post seeking information ... I wasn't able to find an answer with google so I thought people here would know. But I notice that Washington D.C. seems to be consistently 85-90% Democratic and I was just curious why.
Thanks!

There is a large African American population there, and they tend to be Democratic leaning.
This is also why the Republicans will never vote to make it a state, because they don't want to empower those individuals politically.
It's racism really.

they could even vote for the Presidency. That is unbelievable but true, hell the most popular slogan there is "No taxation without Representation!". If not make them a state, because they are the capital city, then make them a unique district with VOTING members of Congress allowed, like a state, but not one itself. Can't change the flag again after all. :)

So it's democratic. If you had big cities like Seattle and Chicago cut off into semi-states like DC is, they'd have huge Dem turnout too.
Now.... as to WHY cities are heavily dem.... that's another question altogether.
