Has anybody had this problem?
Weird things have been happening with me today.

I was going to my firewall summary to look at traffic activity on my computer and low and behold look what I found....

7:36:43 AM 208.27.202.119 rchwan.gtwy.uscourts.gov ICMP Ping

8:46:58 AM 208.27.202.119 rchwan.gtwy.uscourts.gov ICMP Ping

6:09:14 PM 208.27.202.119 rchwan.gtwy.uscourts.gov ICMP Ping

What the hell is this all about??? All I do apart on this thing from the occasional adult site and computer game is look at sites like indymedia, copwatch.org, BBC, CBC, Guardian, Dean For America, IE America, DU, among others. What the hell does this mean??? I am no terrorist. Never bombed or kidnapped anybody! Is the government THAT affraid of it's own citizens to think for themselves and have it's own opinions???? What should I do about this? What could happen?

I am feeling a little violated! :scared:

John

2. Only the uscourts.gov site.
The first ping prompted me to go to their site. I can think either it's a bored federal employee or John Ashcroft probing my computer for "subversive" evidence. I do wonder though.

4. Don't freak out.
http://www.uscourts.gov/

This is the site for the federal courts system; have you been looking at supreme court news? Or something similar? What you are probably seeing are cookies from sites you visited. Go to the above link and see if it looks familiar.

5. Actually, I was pinged by THEM before I pinged those guys!
I did look at some (non-government) websites about the Rodney King Trial as well as the Copwatch website. I also looked at Greg Palast's site as well.

7. What firewall system are you using?
I have a McAfee system. I have turned off the allow ICMP Ping Requests mode. Hopefully that should help.

8. ZoneAlarm.
I've got Norton anti-virus protection, in addition.

But I've disabled ping and several other vulnerable files by moving them to a "storage" folder since I did some security research last year after being hacked.
