Have Cons ever enacted legislation NOT for their immediate benefit? |
|
It seems to me that the answer would be no, I can't think of any. But then Im educated at all on pre-2000 legislation. I say Conservative too because I think it is more accurate than Republican. I hate the fact that Republicans claim Lincoln because Lincoln was a freaking liberal. If I woke up tomorrow and the parties were suddenly switched and the extreme right was now the Democratic party and the left was the Republican party, I'd be a Republican.

1. Man, I was just thinking about this this morning. |

My dad told me that whatever the Republicans do, the first thing he thinks is like "OK, what are they trying to do?" Then I started thinking about the same thing you are - what have they actually done that isn't for them strategically, or for their donors...which is pretty much the same thing.

2. Yep, I was talking it over with my mom |

and she basically said the same thing. I think it started with the changes to Medicare that Bush pushed through. She said everything they do has some sort of alternate reason, mostly to help themselves and their base.
