Voter registration for the masses! |
|
I would like to take the idea someone had for handing out enlistment forms to those who called us unpatriotic when we stood against the war one step further.
Each of us needs to be a voter registrar. We all need to keep voter registration forms on us and when someone says they are not registered instead of giving them a speech...SIGN THEM UP! Everywhere we go sign people up! Offer to mail it in or whatever once they are done or do whatever your conscious tells you to do, BUT for heaven's sake PLEASE LET'S REGISTER AT LEAST ONE PERSON EVERY DAY FROM NOW UNTIL WE CAN'T ANY LONGER!
Maybe we could have a paper that talks about absentee balloting and how to actually vote that is EASY to read for those who are not intellectually inclined!
If you have any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, please let me hear from you because I'm dead serious about this! I'm sick and tired of only a few ruling this country while the masses become poorer and more discouraged EVERY day.
If someone else has had this idea, I apologize and defer to you! I'm desperate to make a change starting from the bottom of the ranks... stir it up...move it around...get the lead out and take action and responsiblity...goes for me as well as everyone else I come into contact with from here on out!

1. this is a very good idea |
|
I suspect the form is different for each state. Need a link DUers can go to, select their state, and download a pdf file containing their state's reg form. Then we can print out all we need.
Very good idea.

Trey Anastasio (Phish) has mentioned that he wants to explore setting up voter registration booths at his shows. Just imagine it...

8. You might want to give some thought to who you sign up. |
|
Around here there are lots of fundies and they are all slavish Right-wing and Bush followers. Fortunately there are some who are not registered and don't vote. I don't encourage them to vote, I just change the subject.
Think about the people you talk to and if you sense that they see or might see the Democratic advantage then, by all means, sign them up. If not, maybe they're not ones who would vote Democratic.
