An opinion about Porter Goss, CIA nominee |
|
There has been allot teeth-grinding about Porter Goss and the fact that the Dems are supporting the nomination. IMHO he is not the man for the job, given the fact he is partisan (God knows what kind of things he might do) and the fact that, as a former CIA insider, he 'likes' the CIA. If he likes the CIA then he might be less inclined, or downright opposed the imposing the kind of change needed. It would be better if you nominated someone who hated the CIA and would be totally motivated to change the way things run in Langley. Just understand this, Bush is a master of shifting political blame. If the Dems stand up and say 'Goss is gross!' or 'No way Goss!' Bush, the administration, his campaign staff will have been given a platinum opportunity to jump up and say 'See! The Dems aren't letting me have the tools to fight terror!' The Goss nomination is a lose-lose situation for the Dems. I am sure they don't like it either but it is the reality at present.
Just an opinion.

2. The Dems are SUPPOSED to be the opposition party... |
|
If they are not opposed. Then they aren't representing their constituency properly.
Although, you would never know it by the way they allow the repukes to roll over them at every turn of appointments..would you?

5. Are we opposed to the idea that the sun rises in the east? |
|
Being in the opposition means doing it SMARTLY, not reflexively.
taking a contrary point, simply to be contrary is worse than being a neocon, it is guaranteed to fail. Look, like it or not, one or more of their ideas will be spot on, perhaps by accident, sure, but we have to be ready for the possibility. Clinton was a genius at grabbing the best the opposition had to offer and melding it into his own policies.
that was pure genius.

Clinton, notwithstanding- because everything he did, he did alone...
The Democrats are cowards, Howard Dean showed them how...
Too bad their moral backbones have selective memory.

Supporting the Goss nomination is ludicrous! He was chairman of the committee charged with oversight of the CIA. The CIA failed (according to the official story). How much sense does it make to put this man in charge of the agency???
Its like putting Barney Fife in charge of the Bureau of Prisons !!!

I think Kerry should say "ok" with Goss. Then hint that if Goss does not work out and if Bush gets elected, then America is stuck with him. Kerry would fire him if he does not work. The Democrat would be a better choice because Bush sticks with his losers like Rumsfeld, Rice and Wolfowitz.

he'll do whatever the Bush junta tells him to do. He'll say whatever the Bush junta tells him to say when they're contemplating another war. That's why he's being appointed.
President Kerry will probably fire him first.

9. From one of the most corrupt districts in FL |

One of the major narcotics throughpoint hubs in America, tremendous amount of cash changes hands for imported illegal controlled substances;
9-11 terrorists trained at an airport there: CIA, DEA, FBI, NSA, DIA, FDLE, Sheriffs, INS, and Customs all had knowledge of these individual's presence long before the tragedy. All of the investigations stalled due to decisions at ambiguous high levels to protect the suspects.
Coincidentally, Porter Goss has been a member of the House Select Intelligence Committee and is briefed at the highest levels.
If we let Goss manage the CIA, will we get more of the same only on a larger scale?
I hope Kerry will replace him with someone who has integrity and the will to route out wrongdoers.

Pray for a swift and certain defeat to the Bush junta. If they hold power any longer they will damage America irreparably. Terror is a bad policy for any administration. Failure to prevent acts of terrorism or failure to hold free and fair elections is a failure of government.
