The butts and empties seem to be the bigger issue in the outdoors.
I never had a problem going to the beach and having someone smoking nearby; the wind usually dispersed the smoke just fine. I do have problems with people who leave their butts in the sand. It's not 1100 miles of ashtray.

from cigarette butts. I've also, stepped on lit cigarettes with bare feet.

I have allergic bronchitis, and at times when I'm outdoors I can feel my chest tightening up even before I smell the smoke. When I go to parades or other outdoor events, I'm constantly having to change my location to dodge the smokers. I'd love so much to be able to move around easily in the world without worrying about my body suddenly feeling under assault.
