"Republican Day" at Illinois State Fair
Yep, that's right. Republican Freaking Day. They have Veterans Day, Seniors Day, etc. and freaking REPUBLICAN day. It's today too...fun-tastic!
The dems had a booth there, as did the Republicans. First, I managed to stomach going into the Republican tent. They have a big long list of fees our Democratic governor has increased. HOWEVER...on close examination of the list, it includes increased fees for things like "DUI"s. Right, we have to protect the victims of those strict drinking and driving laws. The dem tent was pretty nice, except there was a lady working the entrance with Obama stickers who was really rude, turning a lot of voters anti-Kerry. People were asking for Kerry stickers and she would say "He didn't bother to send any." One guy followed up by saying "wow, he's a real piece of work, isn't he?" and she replied "yeah, he is." Greeeat.

2. The entire Republican tent was basically
Alan Keyes and Bush. They had these crappy little pieces of paper on a stick that said "I'm a Bush Fan" with the picture of the doofus. I'm sure you've seen the picture, it's one where he actually looks more human than simian.

7. You should have said -
"Oh, I'm sorry, I'm legally blind, and someone told me there were urinals in this tent . . ."

3. You should have immediately talked
to whomever was in charge so they could help her work on her campaigning skills. Nip it in the bud. Even now, you need to call the IL Dem office and tell them. They'll figure out who it was and make sure she doesn't do it again. Yes, IL is a solid state, but never count on anything.

9. Yes, there's a Democratic Day. Barack Obama was the big hit.
It's non-partisan.

8. Of course they don't mention that out of control Repub spending
actually forced all the increased fees due to lack of funding to states. They had to do this to balance the state budget. Fuck those people.

At the Illinois State Fair there is both a Democrats Day and a Republican Day, but the party who occupies the Governor's Mansion renames their day Governor's Day.

15. I remember attending Deomcrats Day..[Governors Day]
Many years ago...I when I was just a kid..and Dick Daley was Mayor...Democrat Day at the Fair was something to behold..Let me tell you when the trains and busses began arriving from Chicago it was amazing...Heck I thought at the time Chicago had to be a ghost town, because everyone came to the fair...Now I am not kidding...They began walking in about 9:00 AM and they were still filing that afternoon....I can not remember how many buses and railroad cars they had to use and many drove their own cars...We got a spot early on the infield....I never saw so many Democrats in one place in my life....before or since....They were singing...chanting....Everyone carried a sign or flag...
