I just emailed ratoutachurch.com! |
|
Here is what I sent:
I am wondering - are you going to report the churches that are pushing for their congregations to vote for Bush? I see no mention of this on your site, yet that is also a violation of HR-235. In other words, you can't just turn in the churches that are encouraging voters to vote for Kerry. You also have to turn in churches who are working to get Bush elected.
I am sure that your organization, especially one that is called the Religious Freedom Action Coalition, would not be so biased as to go after only left-wing churches. That would be hypocritical. As Jesus said in Mark 7: 6-7 - He replied, "Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: " 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 7They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.
You need to consult the Scriptures a bit more before you undertake this endeavor. You are in danger of becoming a hypocrite.
I hope that you act in a true Christian manner instead of letting the Devil take a hold of your heart in such a grievous way.
Note: I tried to call but the phone rang about 20 times and I never got an answering machine.

4. I'm a Christian and a Democrat |
|
That seems like an oxymoron to the 'pubs in my office.
But yes, you have to battle these types of people with Scripture. You can't really argue with that! ;)
I'm hoping that I receive a reply. I'm curious as to what they have to say.

I googled ratoutachurch.com and found the site, but I did not see any information regarding reporting churches that encourage people to vote for Kerry.

They had a rat dressed as a minister behind a pulpit with a Kerry sign.
Personally as far as I am concerned the only reason moderate churches have been politicized is in responce to the religious right, and there sure aren't many of them in comparison to the religious right so I think these people are shooting themselves in the foot.

9. The gif was pretty ridiculous |
|
My church is non-political. That is the way it should be. If a church gets too political, then it has lost its way and is no longer a house of God.

political issues are issues Churches have a right to be concerned about.

11. I agree that they should be concerned |

I just don't agree that a church should actively participate in politics. The mission of a church is to save souls, not to make sure that a certain candidate gets elected to a local school board.
A church needs to counsel its flock on how to live in a Christ-like manner. If a person is living a life for Christ, then that person alone should choose how to vote. How that Christian votes is between that person and God. The church shouldn't fit in anywhere in that equation.
