Let's not allow the 1000 soldier mark pass without recognition. |
|
I hope that there are vigils, ceremonies, memorials planned throughout the country.
In Houston, there's going to be a gathering with 1000-luminarias placed alongside a main road, with the name & hometown of a dead soldier on each bag. (10 groups are handling 100 each luminarias.)Poetry will be read and taps will be played, then low drumming while the luminarias are being extinguished.
It's not too late to plan something simple, if there isn't anything in your town.

I will be wearing one, no matter where I am.
I live in a town of 2500 people. That is like forty percent of my town being killed.

6. Black ribbons!! Never thought of that...thanks for the idea. I can |
|
Do that easily. I've also recieved a magnetic bumper sticker that reads: BUSH LIED. The lettering is in bold black. The background is red; however all over the background in small white lettering are the back to back names of soldiers killed....it's really a dynamic thing to behold.
Thanks for this thread and the ideas. I'm humbled.

What I read in passing, and have not have had time to confirm, is about how the W Regime is fudging the numbers.
If a soldier dies in any way other than "on the spot," they are not couted as a "casualty." Therefore, all those being transported or in the hospitals, who at some time die later from wounds obtained in Iraq, or from suicide, are not counted as "official" deaths.
IF this is true, the 1000 marker was breached long ago.

5. Yes, I've heard that. But the public doesn't know that so |
|
a public rememberance is still effective.

I want the name of that 1,000th American tattooed on bu$h's forehead BACKWARDS, so the Worthless Little Fuck can read it every goddam time he looks in his mirror.
:grr: dbt
Please note that the name-tattoo thing would not work for Cheney because vampires cast no reflections.
