You know, it occurred to me this morning that it is very possible that Muqtada al-Sadr's followers could easily damage the Imam Ali Shrine and blame it on the Americans. One of my greatest fears is the Imam Ali Shrine will be damaged in some way and that this will ignite terrible violence. You think that this is possible?

1. I don't think they need to do anything and then blame Americans |

We are doing enough on our own.

With their backs against the wall al-Sadr's followers might just do it. The coalition must leave Najaf. They have done enough damage to Iraq. I'm disgusted that they're about to cause the destruction of a holy shrine. What's worse is that they won't be doing it themselves but pushing locals to do it. They want to hide behind Allawi's forces.

Exactly my point. As this comes to a head, I am really afraid that something like this would happen. Indeed, we have done enough damage on our own...but desperate men can do desperate things. I hope that my worst nightmares do not come to fruition.

This situation is prime for this kind of outcome. I'm not sure that many American's realize the significance of this site. But I'm afraid that their about to find out.
