Wesley Clark should not tell the media when he will announce
If I were Clark I would not tell anyone when he is ready to announce he is running. If the White House knows exactly when he is going to announce his decision they will surely schedule a Bush press conference or find those WMD's to try an squash the attention his announcement will get. He should give no more than a 10 minute notice.

1. Well so far
Clark has said buggerall about anything, so don't worry about it.

3. I don't think it matters.
Rove's Rapid Reaction Rangers will be ready to capture the news cycle the minute he announces. I would be more concerned if the White House doesn't try to preemt a Clark announcement. It would mean that they are not worried about and that those of us that support him had better take a closer look. Their dirty tricks group has certainly been scouting out all of the potential challengers. If they come up with some good dirt on someone, they would probably give that candidate a free ride through the primaries, hoping they could spring a trap on the Democratic nominee.

4. I seriously doubt Rove cares when Clark announces
It's early in the Dem primary game. And highly presumptuous to think a Clark announcement would clear the field.

5. General Clark should announce ten minutes before the election in November
of 2004. That way all his momentum will build up and
break at the right time and his fans could write him in.
I wish I would of done that out here in California.
Momentum is a mysterious and bittersweet phenomenom.

6. and speaking of announcements...
This Monday (25th), at a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, DraftWesleyClark.com will be releasing the results of a national Zogby poll we commissioned to explore the potential of a Clark candidacy. And you'll be able to watch it live, on C-SPAN at 1 pm eastern. (we'll email and post results on the Web later that afternoon).

The poll employs an interesting twist to circumvent the "name
recognition" question, and really get to the heart of the *full* potential of a Clark candidacy.

This is the same poll that Tim Russert referred to this morning on
"Meet the Press." We can't go into details until it is formally released, but suffice to say -- it will be very, very interesting.

The poll will examine a range of questions, including: 1) Clark's
ranking among Democrats -- and his potential ranking; 2) Rankings of current candidates; 3) Clark's performance against President Bush -- and his potential performance; 4) Voter commitment to specific candidates, including Clark; 5) Importance of national security experience in a candidate; and 6) The percentage of voters open to a new Democratic candidate.

Thanks much to all of you who contributed to this effort, particularly over the last few days, and made it possible for us to commission a poll from John Zogby -- one of the country's pre-eminent pollsters.

With General Clark ramping up his public appearances (check out
www.DigitalClark.com to see some recent ones) and indicating that he will make a decision in the next several days, things could get very exciting, very soon. So keep pushing forward, because with your help -- we really might turn this "draft" into an actual campaign.
